Remember: it's time for games to cost $100.
...WAIT, I WASN'T READY!!
Closest I know is a Nintendo fanboy who is turning 36 in a couple of days. But he's not quite like you describe.

He absolutely thinks Nintendo can do no wrong, but he does dabble in other platforms too. I game with him remote on PC like once a week or so.

how the fuck do you jump straight to "you want to control people" from that

oh right, by being disingenuous to deliberately misrepresent my viewpoint. for those following along at home, this is the spearhead

Look at how angry and defensive you are.

If these people you claim to know want to only play Nintendo games, who cares? They arent the majority, and there are other people who are in the majority of playing many systems. So the industry isnt being hurt, society isnt crumbling. Only you think people should be acting a certain way, and when you get called out, you act like a victim for some reason.

Of course this is an attention-seeking bait topic though so Im not going to bother beyond this.

It's like hearing someone walking up to you to argue about what the best heroin needle is. Wayyyy too deep into the stuff.

I branch out with retro games, but I mostly stick to Nintendo with modern games, as they are the only large company still regularly making games I really love. Even with them though Im usually behind on stuff because theres just so many games (and other forms of media) that you cant play everything, so why not focus on what you most enjoy.

Do you know any?

Refuses to play a competitor's game or on a competitor's console, favorite RPG is Pokemon with no close 2nd, catches every Direct and will not shut up about it at work the next day no matter how good, bad or mediocre it was, tries to collect every Amiibo, only watches Arlo and Nintendo Life channels on YouTube, refuses to hear criticism of Nintendo's games and business practices and on and on.

I've known a couple people like this and while they were annoying, it sucked to see them miss out on so much just due to brand loyalty.

Yes. Go to the Switch board. They will be easy to spot.

Why would it matter if they didnt.

As long you arent a menace to society or some kind of predator, I never understood hobby police.

Why would anyone be annoyed at someones preferences if they do you no harm?

Exactly.
Nintnedo is shitty with their pricing but it evens out considering they release complete working games that work perfectly at launch and without patches, they make great systems and aren't prefatory with their DLC, and their IP variety is rivaled by none

That is, pokemon aside but they don't appear to be in control over that...

You can tell that the person who made this doesn't exactly fit into society either. The most popular people are the ones rocking the kind of backpack on the left.

Hobby police mostly just want attention.
I'm not quite this extreme, but most of what I play that isn't on PC is largely Nintendo. It's just what I grew up with, and I'm not exactly made of money so I can't just have all of the consoles.
You sound jealous of their hobby
Its like people who never branched out beyond dad rock

and I did for sure, but I still keep on with dad rock because quite frankly its just a tradition worth keeping alive.. the attitude, the meme, the memory, whatever you wanna call it

I mean, Stairway starts playing on the radio and Im all for it.. and I wasnt even born in that era!

It would be better if they could at least try other things to just expand their experiences, but the worst thing is the people with weird Nintendo hate boners, especially when it involves stuff that Sony & Microsoft are doing on a relatively worse level.

funny argument because i remember the same thing when it came to PC vs console way back when with console gamers' argument of choice being "no pc games/genres/features interest me" and suddenly fps and online became two of the biggest features across gaming as a whole.

I branched out of Nintendo during the Wii era simply because there wasn't enough games to play and there were many games I experienced as a result that I'm very happy about. I don't really have an issue with people only sticking to one platform though.

I do however, take issue with people saying "you only think it's good because it's an exclusive." That's ignorant talk, and that extends to Nintendo games too. As an example for the Nintendo side, it's not common, but I see "Xenoblade is only considered good because it's on Nintendo" peddled around by some people still. With my experience, I'd consider it a strong, good RPG franchise regardless of what platform it'd be on, on par with at least many of today's mainstream RPG franchises. It's just got a more niche gameplay style which may not appeal to as many people.
