Potential Anthologies to ExploreSeems quite good of an appeal to look at.
AHH! That's What I Call Horror: An Anthology of '90s Horror
This anthology features fourteen horror stories set during the 1990s, crafted by various authors. Given its focus on the '90s era and inclusion of multiple short stories, it's a promising collection to investigate.
The Girl Next Door by Jack Ketchum
While this is a standalone novel rather than a short story, it delves deeply into themes of child abuse and psychological trauma. If the story you're recalling had a particularly intense and disturbing narrative, this novel might resonate with those memories.
The Frightfully Short Story Collection
This collection offers a mix of scary short stories, which might include the tale you're trying to find. Its variety of narratives makes it a potential match.
99 Horror Stories
As the title suggests, this anthology comprises 99 horror stories. With such a vast array, there's a chance the story you're seeking is among them.

A couple possible ideas (probably not any of them though)Emailed myself on these as well.

at at the bottom it lists other books like this.

Seems quite good of an appeal to look at.Uh, be aware those titles might be hallucinated. I have had some success with ChatGPT finding books, but other times it utterly fails. Im not a fan of horror, so I dont have much personal experience with the genre outside of having to teach certain stories.
Might have to hit the local library or sail some seas for this.
Worth a shot I guess, and I do like childhood trauma stories.
Nice find.... The full book wasn't all that dramatic in appearance so something simple like this does have promise.
At just an average of 10 pages a piece per story, the book would have weighed an immense ton.
Might be a good read and I will try and get this as well just for funsies.
I emailed myself your full post and will follow up on all of these tomorrow.
My one concern though is that it might never have went digital.
But yeah, thank you!
If anything hits, I'll gift any game of your choice. :D

What was the Reddit board you were going to suggest?
Is it on the tip of my tongue or something more book nerdy?
Ugh.I think it might be based on those users settings, but Im not sure. I dont know how this site works, either.
Why can't I seem to properly tag people here?
This site is worthless. *lol*

Yes, that's the one. I don't think I have a user setting preventing being tagged.I'm on mobile.
This site's features are pretty archaic and janky. Not a reflection on any of the users.
