Japanese dating apps generally let you filter by everything. Height, weight, income, etc. I don't see the point of playing pretend on these things.
It's not just about the liars though. (realistically they'll just lie past the filter anyway)
Without the filter, the person's picture shows up, maybe you like it, and maybe you match. Then you see on their profile that they have some undesirable trait... At that point you're left to make a decision, is that a dealbreaker, or does the rest of the package compensate. A lot of the times it'll be a dealbreaker, but for some people in some cases it won't be.
But with the filter, that person never shows up, and you never see or get to weigh their positive traits. Since they already got disappeared over the one undesirable trait.
