Current Events » $1 million dollars tax free, but you cannot play/watch new games for 10 years
You'll be given 24 hours to purchase any games you currently do not have if you agree to the money. You cannot pre-order anything that's coming soon.

Once you receive the money, you are physically unable to play, watch any footage of (or see screenshots of) any game you have not purchased. You cannot bypass this by obtaining romsets. The only games you will be able to play for the next decade are games you've purchased physically, digitally, or have redeemed via prime gaming, EGS giveaways and etc.

Anything you attempt to see or play that you do not own a copy of will simply be a black screen or image with no sound.

Easiest million dollars. The newest games I've played in the last 5 years is a fan made mod of Diablo 2.

-Actually that's not true. I did play Diablo 4. For about 5 hours.

Maybe 5 years. But I ain't lasting 10 years lol.
My Mario Maker 2 ID is 6RG-5XK-JCG
If free Epic games count I have enough of those alone to last 10 years. Haven't touched hardly any of them.
I barely play video games now, give me the money.
That million doesn't stretch as far as it used to, especially not for 10 years. That said, there's always used.

Wouldn't be applicable here. You have to already own a copy of the game.

I could easily live off my current collection/backlog for the rest of my life, so easy money.

The only thing Id pick up new in that 24 hr period would be a PS5 and Expedition 33. Id be set even w/o it, but thats definitely the most recent thing I have the most interest in and would be a bit disappointed to miss.

that'll suck to miss slay the spire 2 for a decade, but I'll just spend a few hundred and buy anything that's on sale that looks remotely interesting.

Does that apply to games my brother or sister owns?

It would be easy if it wasn't watch too. Not cause I need to watch games, but I do keep up on hardware performance which includes in game performance.

I have a backlog that can last ten years.

I think almost any gamer with the average sized Steam backlog would be fine here.

I could absolutely do that so easily.

And with that million dollars Id have so much time to catch up on the games I missed during that decade.

Life's what you make it, so let's make it rock
I mostly play TF2 and SF4, ez gg

You mentioned games you've bought or redeemed, but what about games you've received as a gift or found randomly? I used to recondition vehicles at a car dealership, and when we found stuff in vehicles we got from auctions or whatever, we could just keep it because there wasn't a quick and easy way to track down the previous owner. I have a bunch of handheld games from that. Mostly bad tie-in games (Incredibles for GBA, somehow both Cars and Cars 2 for DS), but also some good ones (like Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story).

I'm also curious about games you've bought in the past, but no longer have.

Regardless of the answers, this is something I would have to seriously think about. Like, that money would be life changing in a good way, but that restriction would also require me to change a lot of aspects of my life I don't want to change. Mostly in regards to my current social life, since that's largely related to hanging out in Twitch chats.

They must be owned by you, you could arrange that before taking the money

Hell yeah. My backlog is something that I will not clear in my lifetime, so I have plenty of games to play. While Id like to play new games, $1 million would be life changing.

WATCH? That's practically impossible nowadays. Lots of ads and stuff.
WHO MODS THE MODERATORS?
Didnt even really have to think about this one. Easy deal.

I barely play these days anyway and most of what I do play is old stuff. In that ten year period there would probably be about a dozen games where Id feel a little bit bad about missing out, but not so much that it would be a major problem.
As long as I can keep playing gacha updates on the ones I currently have
Easy money. I have so many games I haven't gotten to and I like revisiting my favorites so I'll have plenty to play.

money.
my backlog is enormous. Ive got tons of games that Ive bought and havent even played.
You gonna do somethin' or just stand there and bleed?
I would've taken the deal even if it meant giving up games altogether for 10 years, but allowing me to still play the ones I own just sweetens the deal :P

EZ money. I might actually clear my backlog.

Question. Can I buy and download DLC or patches for old games or am I stuck with the version I originally came with?

I think I could do this but I'd end up seeing new games release and want to play them.

I actually chose no, I don't want to wait 10 years for the next trails games lmao

You can only play the game in its current state, so no new patches or DLC

Never mind, I see no problem here.
-Thin out my wishlist a fair bit
-Use a portion of the million to build a new rig exclusively for gaming and literally nothing else
-Rest of the million goes in the bank

Same.
Wait, another question, what about free games, like the repository of free games on Flashpoint? Am I able to continue playing stuff on the version I have when I make the deal and just not update it, or just stuff that I already have specifically downloaded, or not at all?

I would say yes if I could wait until after Persona 6 came out.
Thats okay. Might take me on years to play GTA 6, but at least GTA 7 won't be out for another 15. Can't wait to play GTA 6 on Switch 3.
Less is more. Everything you want, isn't everything you need.
Just pay someone to make a giveaway of new games here and "luckily win" each time!

But yeah, easiest million ever. I don't game that much these days and when I do it's usually older games anyway.

Easy money. I'm already ~10 years behind on my backlog anyway, so by the time I clear it out I'll be near the blackout end date.

Money easily. I'm practically done buying new games. The last new game I bought was RDR2. The classics still holds up and are good enough for me.
