Anakin in no way deserved to be a master.
Being a good fighter doesn't make you a good priest. Hell, being a good fighter is basically meaningless to the jedi, considering they're, you know, supposed to be pacifists.
Anakin was a great general but a crappy jedi.
Doesn't take a lot of brains to be a good fighter.
