My cat is 19. Nothing has been wrong with him, it's rare that he's needed to go to a vet other than for checkups. He last had a checkup in October and everything looked good. He's been eating and playing just fine.

After my cat has been vomiting a few times a week this year, he's been getting skinnier. I didn't think anything of it, my brother and my dad would say that he was fat. He's been wanting to go outside where my brother had a bowl of water, when there was already a bowl of water inside. I didn't think anything of it, my cat loves going outside. But yesterday he didn't touch his food when I fed him. That's odd.

Today I noticed he's walking on his wrists, crawling on the floor with his paws curled. That's not normal. I tried to feed him but he won't eat. We took him to the hospital and he weighed half his weight since October.

Then we're told he has kidney failure. The doctors gave him about 1 week left to live. This is a pet I've had since childhood and the first time we've had to put one down. It hasn't hit my feelings yet but I can't sleep.

Couldn't have come at a worse time, I'm leaving on a flight tomorrow...

I lost my 15 year old at the end of May. It seems like rapid decline is common in cats. My cat did that too

I'm really sorry

Kidney failure also apparently is very common in old cats.
My 20 year old cat died 2 weeks ago. It really makes you realize how short 2 decades is.
No sig
I'm sorry, man.

yea, as cats get older, one of their biggest health risks end up being kidney related.
Don't you agree, Zach?

They're very good at hiding sickness, I think. I lost my Junebug in February under similar circumstances. She was getting up in years, was diabetic, but still lively and doing okay, and then over the course of a few days just stopped eating, went downhill fast, and was unresponsive one morning. The vet said there was nothing they could do but just end her suffering. Right before the end she kinda woke up a little and I got to kiss her goodbye.

So sorry for you.
Cover your knees up if you're gonna be walkin' around everywhere.
Aww man sorry
