Aww, that's really swee--
*does math*
-- oh god
I feel like in retrospect it's still sweet since they actually made it work and stuck together and he didn't drop her for another teenager when she turned 21 or something weird.Pretty much my thoughts too. I wouldn't go as far as to describe it as "sweet" though, my wording would be more "slightly less bad". I guess though it does also have to be seen in the context of its time to some extent - like many things that we recognize as being plain wrong today, this was somewhat normalized back then.
But I feel like even trying to point that out makes it sound like I'm condoning illegal and gross relationships like that
I hope this all makes sense :(
So apparently it was a shotgun wedding before he got shipped off to Korea. My neighbors oldest brother was born five months later after the mom turned 14.Could be worse. John Tyler (yes, the 10th president of the US), his GRANDSON just died back in May of this year. Tyler was president from 1841-1845. He died in 1862.
Nope nope nope nope
They had six kids, the oldest being 74 years-old and the youngest being my 56 year-old neighbor.

The only thing the numbers really say as far as I can see is that (at least one each of) his children and grandchildren lived long lives, not really anything about who (or how old) the mothers were. Like yeah, if he was those age and knocking up teens that's yuck as, but if he was those ages and knocking up fully adult women (and either way, the baby's born at age zero), then... it's kinda so what?

Yeah fair.If it makes you feel any better, basically everyone lives in a country where that kind of shit at least was once common. Only exception might be some countries that haven't existed at all for very long yet.
Maybe I shouldn't say "still sweet" but "at least it turned out sweet" or something.
IDK can't believe I live in the same country where that kind of shit is/was common.

Their son Lyon was born in 1853 (John was 63 then), and Lyon was 70 when he married Susan Ruffin in 1923.

If so, while 70ish and 30ish might feel a bit yuck, they're adults, I'm not gonna condemn it.
My neighbors oldest brother was born five months later after the mom turned 14.HOLY FUCK

Im actually aware of the Tyler family, but I dont think the Tyler men borked any barely teens back in their days, they just had two generations that had sons very late.In this case it's not even barely legal.
