I would ask if she really means that. If she said it lot of anger or if that's what she really thinks. Quite frankly, that specific reason is pretty damning for a break up. She would be basically directly insulting you as well.

I'm gonna be honest.. Last year I told my ex her dad and her brother were assholes. I aid it lot of anger, because they judged me for a gift I gave her without knowing me, and basically told her I had no class. She also doubled down on it after saying she tried defending me. I'm not proud of what I said, and I did apologize..But it kinda put me on edge with what I was getting into into if I pursued it further, and I said to myself I would learn from that for future relationships.
Less is more. Everything you want, isn't everything you need.

I don't think I would have gotten to the wife or gf stage with someone who would insult my parents honestly. That seems like the sort of attitude that would have surfaced pretty early on

Definitely depends on the insult. If she insulted my parents' appearance or something superficial like that, I wouldn't want to be with someone like that. But if she's insulting them about their toxic religious and right wing zealotry, I'd fist bump her and say "right on".

Sorry to hear that.

Im still close with one of my brothers, or as much as I can be given that we live on different continents. Him and his sons are the only blood relatives I have anything to do with, and that would still be the case if more of the others were still alive.

None of my girlfriends have ever known my parents.

I left home in my late teens and haven't really had any sort of relationship with my parents since.

My wife grew up in a trailer park and my dad was chief engineer for the largest construction company in the world before he retired so wouldn't really make sense for her to say something like that. She does however trash talk them all the time but to be fair my parents are Robert Deniro from Meet the Parents when it comes to their children's partners.
I'm an artist at what I do. I fuel the fire, watch it burn, and laugh all the while.

The woman that I'm with loves my parents. She is intelligent and level headed. If she were insulting my parents, there would be a very strong reason for it. They would have done something to deserve it and any insult would be directly related to that action. She would never say the things in the OP.

I wish I had walked in here and you were taking a dump on the couch, or doing homework. Anything would be better than that.
