anyone talk about Family Video. It's always Blockbuster this and Blockbuster that.

Blockbuster honestly sucked, they never had the 2 for $1 rentals which usually had 100s of titles, charged outrageous late fees, far as I know didn't have console rentals and the game rental prices were more than what Family Video was.

Family Video lasted longer too, yes I'm aware that there's one remaining Blockbuster but it's not the same.

Blockbuster sucked, yeah I said it. On a Friday night, we went to Family Video instead. It was like $5 for a 5 night game rental which was actually a good deal. Rented many PS1 and PS2 games from there.

We did have one of these near where I grew up, but it was in a bad part of town my mom would not be willing to go to for something so minor as video/game rental.

Yeah, but technically, Blockbuster still exists today. Sure, there's only the one in Bend, Oregon. But it still exists!

I wont say it sucked, but my mom and pop A-1 video blew it out of the water in almost every way

The only real upside Blockbuster had is they had multiple copies of games and movies to rent compared to the one at A-1 lol

Time is a funny thing, you know? I guess in the big picture of my life, you were only a blip. But oftentimes, those "blips" make the biggest impacts.

Yeah, I can see that. Although I never worked at my local BB they always were super nice and cool to me. So I always had a better impression of them.

Hollywood screwed me out of a bonus one time. It was good riddance when they eventually went under.

we had I think two blockbusters and one hollywood video in my hometown (maybe it was one of each).

Blockbuster just had more to it. Plus the Pokemon Snap sticker printing station >_> Plus the fun late return fees when you brought the video back at 12:05 instead of 12:00...

The blockbuster I went to in college would always give me a free rental coupon if I returned the movie inside.

I went a year and a half renting a movie every other night without paying by the end it was a game, I knew the 3 guys that worked and they would all come out and walk around with me trying to come up with suggestions of good movies I hadnt seen >_>

I liked the place lol

In Canada, it was Jumbo Video and Rogers Video alongside Blockbuster. P. sure I still got a copy of Project Overkill in a rental case stashed away somewhere that my uncle picked up used as a gift for me and my brother.

I preferred renting from grocery stores back when that was a thing. A little cheaper and sometimes a better selection.

I used to go to blockbuster a couple times a week. I had a subscription, but it was only one or two at a time. You brought those back and got to rent one or two more

There was no Family Video in any of the places I lived. There were generic rental stores, but Blockbuster allowed you to rent movies and games for far longer than they did.

My local family video kept trucking until early 2020. No idea how. Pretty sure covid put it down.

I was devastated

You guys remember game crazy that was part of Hollywood video? They were WAY TO HARDCORE about reserving games like not sell you the fucking snes game you want until you reserved some subpar PS2 game
