I'm 5'5 and am a little overweight at 165 lbs. My fat ass can't bench anything.
WHO MODS THE MODERATORS?
Probably not. I've never done a bench press before and I weigh 120 pounds.

I did in high school when I was on the football team. Could I do it now? Probably not lol.

Usually everyone goes with 225. 2 plates of 45s on each side and a 45 pound bar. Anyways yes but its not impressive when you are fairly big. When youre like 250 pounds yourself you should be able to lift it. Though I will say as a taller than average person I wear out on reps much quicker than my shorter stout friends who didnt have to move the bar as far.

But I stopped working out years ago due to health issues. Also I felt like such a wimp in high school as my best friend was an absolute beast. At 16 he was approaching 400 pounds on bench press. Went to college for sports nutrition and for nearly 30 years has been a personal trainer and has had pro athletes as clients. I was doing like a half or less of what he was doing on most stuff at that age.

I should be able to with the amount of time I've spent weightlifting, but I'm not even close. Genetically, I'm cursed to be weak as fuck no matter what I do. I've never touched a barbell in my life, but I can only do 110 pounds with dumbbells at a 30 degree incline. I don't know how exactly that would translate to a flat barbell bench press, but I know it's nowhere near 220 pounds.
I know it might be wrong, but I'm in love with Stacy's dong
I can probably lift the bar
I could see you, but I couldn't hear you You were holding your hat in the breeze Turning away from me In this moment you were stolen...
I think at one point I was doing like 140 or so, which was around my body weight. Seemed pretty close to my max at that point, and I can't imagine my max has improved since then.
Feeling really good.

Prior to my current ongoing shoulder issues, yeah, but at the moment, no. Can't even move that arm very well in general.
I've never tried bench pressing, lol. I can do a couple of pushups at that weight, but I assume that's not quite the same thing.

Maybe, not sure as it has been a while. Probably though.

Last time I actually did it In my 20's was 300.

Nowadays I doubt I could go above 200. Hell I doubt I could go above 150, especially with my shoulder in the condition it's in, and I really don't want to risk hurting it further.

Even when I'm in good condition, I think I do 115.

That said, I've never done a one rep max for bench because I have seen too many clips of people getting injured or, y know, dying on failure.

IIRC they're one of the most common injury points on the body.

This. I don't work out beyond a pretty casual bike ride twice a day.

My all time max was 380, and then I failed 385 on video lol.

I estimate that I have a max of 340 now because I lost weight last year to focus on boxing and strongman training, which doesn't involve much bench pressing, but I'm working on bringing it back up. I decided that even if I want to do strongman, I don't want my bench or back squat to get weak.

I have no idea. I don't do any kind of weight lifting (as an exercise I mean, I do lift heavy things sometimes at work or whatever) so I have no idea what the difficulty of that weight would even be.
No. At the rate I'm going it will probably be another year.
I'm a KDT. I'm better at the video game Bloodborne.
Nope. I havent pushed to max in a long while, and mostly focus on high reps, but Im guessing my max is around 165-175.

Yeah. I'm 189.

My most recent PR for 225 was 16 reps, so I can probably do 17 to 19 reps of 220.

But damn, 400lb bench press. That's like a fraction of 1% that can lift that. It's basically elite level at that point.
Just wanna say it's extremely strong but when you bring up "elite", it's also the kind of "strong" that a strong NFL player or other athlete who doesn't focus on weightlifting would put up. An actual elite powerlifter wouldn't consider it strong, or if they do they'd be speaking about it for a different category and set of standards than themselves.

Yeah lol, I'm 5'7 at 250lb. Right now I bench 265 for 8 reps.

I can maybe do 315 for barely 1 rep but I've never tried.

It was seriously mind boggling. He was big into working out but at 16 that was just nuts. He was so disappointed back then though because he had a flat chest. No visible pecs at all and it bothered him that people who were so much weaker had nice developed chests. He had big ass biceps but no chest. He always covered his arms though. He honestly didnt do it for vanity, but it bothered him he couldnt see the results physically in his chest.

But we were dumb teenagers then and thought being big and buff was cool. These days hes slimmed way down, has no mass, and is very lean. He is still super strong and fit but hes 510 and like 170. Hell in high school our last two years he was wrestling 189 pounds so hes like 20 pounds lighter than when we were 17 and we are 49 now.

I know online everyone seems to know a guy but its 100% truth. He's the strongest person Ive ever personally known as a close friend. Dude was so strong. I remember when we watched the NFL combine and he was surprised at how low their reps were for 225 and he could do more. He could do like 33 reps of 225 as a teenager in high school. It didnt make sense to me. I couldnt hit 225 when I started and had to work up to that.

Not anymore. But I could probably get back to it relatively quickly. My all time max though was like 245 so I was never that strong with it.
Trying is the first step towards failure, so just dont give it a shot and you cant dissapoint.

Maybe once, my shoulders are in bad shape, but if they were in better shape I might be able to do sets of 5.

My high school coach never told us benching with your elbows flaring out to the sides real far was a bad thing.
Oof. This ties into why archizzy's friend had a small chest. Being a strong bench presser involves tucking your elbows into your sides and pinching your shoulder blades back so your triceps and upper-back are recruited more, but your chest doesn't get hit as hard as a result. When I first hit a 350 bench I wasn't happy with the size of my chest until I added in lighter sets targeting the pecs.
