I haven't had pho in a long time, but I'm tempted to pick it over ramen. Ramen is jsut so heavy, whereas pho has such a unique flavor profile.
How quaint.
It's easier to find great ramen than great pho.

Had ramen for brunch, so I'm quite strongly biased right now.

Pho is fine, but ramen is way better.

If I want something light and hot to warm me up on a cold day, I'll take pho.

If I want something tasty and hot to warm me up on a cold day, I'll take ramen.
Pho is more refreshing. Also every place I get ramen has a weird taste in it now that I can't pinpoint. Kikurage or soy sauce or something.

I'm choosing Pho.

I grew up eating something similar called katiew/kuyteav. My mom makes a really good one

I like he chicken, pork or beef broth over the fish broth for ramen.

Ramen for most regular occasions.

But pho when I want to recover from a cold or sickness.

Good pho > good ramen. But pho is easy to screw up, ramen's not.

I love both, but I very slightly prefer ramen.

I like both a lot but I wish pho restaurants got more creative with it like ramen restaurants do. Pho options are generally prepared one of maybe a dozen different ways. Ramen styles are constantly evolving.

I just looked it up and I guess pho in Vietnam can vary pretty drastically depending on the region. Guess the restaurants in America need to step their game up.

When it comes to both ramen and pho, I've only ever had store bought instant stuff. I much prefer ramen.

If he is spelling it using the specific accent, it's the Southern way. Many Vietnamese refugees escaped Vietnam due to the fall of Saigon, so it makes sense why Vietnamese Europeans and Americans would pronunciate it the Saigon dialect way even though the "Hanoi" dialect is the "official accent". I do know plenty of Pho places near me in Los Angeles that will secretly give non-asians extra broth and noodles if you pronunciate Pho the southern way though.

I think the "creativity" is why I stopped liking ramen. They just put too much junk in them these days.

Pho, especially what my mother in law makes. Adds Garlic Oil that brings an extra depth none of the Vietnamese places give.
