Civilization, yes. The world? No. I firmly believe that if humanity doesn't get its collective shit in order before it crosses certain global warming thresholds the planet will cull so much of the species in such a short period of time that it will avert the worst. The data points to that being the most likely outcome as well.
Civilization as it is structured right now cannot sustain itself forever. It is based on infinite growth on a planet with finite resources, and consumption of those finite resources will kill a massive swath of the species which in turn will cause an immediate and severe decline. At that time the whole house of cards falls over.
When that day comes, and a lot of figures both climate-wise and resource wise put it at around 2040, civilization will either adapt/change or end. Which is essentially the end of the world as we know it.
But for the world in general no, I believe we'll hit a point where our emissions cap and then decline rapidly one way or the other before the truly apocalyptic things are locked in.
