How much do you usually plan to spend on games? $100/month? $200? How much do you spend on gaming every year? Do you budget for this at all?

I honestly don't budget for games at all. I have a huge ass backlog and rarely buy any new games besides a few each year. I probably only buy like 5 new full priced games max a year.

No more than one game per month, and only my top few series for full price
These days I buy new games infrequently enough that I don't need a budget. Also most games I buy I play for my Youtube channel. Which doesn't earn much, but it's enough to at least break even.

Less than $60 a month. But I don't budget. I just get that number because I can't remember the last time I bought more than 2 games in a month. And Battlefield 6 is the first time in ages that I've paid full price for one ( not pre-ordered , though, I still have some self respect).

Gaming is still a surprisingly cheap hobby, all things considered.

That's not the way my budget works. When I have spending money, I divide it up between my current Future Purchase lists. When I have enough assigned to a list to purchase the top item on the list, I purchase it. Currently two of my lists have something video game related at the top, Batman Forever for Super Nintendo, and a Switch 2. Three lists if you count a new phone as video game related.
It's decreased pretty steadily over time. In high school, it was pretty much all of my spending money, but with the proliferation of the second hand market and digital distribution, and the immense explosion of average playtimes, and the freebies phenomenon, it just started making less and less sense to spend a lot of money. I haven't spent anything on gaming since the Steam summer sale of '23.

This. Though I feel like I spend less thanks to my backlog growing faster than I can get through it.

I dont really budget in general. I've always had an internal wait and see limit for myself. Normally if I still want something after a while ill buy it. If I dont, which is far more common, I dont buy it.
Trying is the first step towards failure, so just dont give it a shot and you cant dissapoint.
On average it's 1 game every 3-5 months if that but no actual budget
Alhamdulillah!
I dont have a set budget. If there is something I want I can buy whatever it is. Gaming wise I buy whatever I want. Its such a small fraction of my disposable income.

That said I tend to get games cheap anyway because with big large games I wait for all DLC/expansions and all the bugs to be mostly worked out so while Im incredibly excited for many games I am also very patient and dont play them until years later and they are heavily discounted by then. Ive played some amazing games this year from 3 to 5 years ago that have all been heavily discounted.

I buy some stuff at launch though but I play 1 game at a time and it would be incredibly rare for more than 2 games to come out in a single month Id be interested in.

Either a couple of games that are on sale or I limit myself to one new game.

i don't buy games regularly enough for that. i probably get <1 brand new game a year and mostly wait for sales and even then it's sporadic. like i might buy a couple then go several months before anything else. or if i'm having a gaming era i might spend $15-20 each week? lol

I'll allow myself to spend up to $100 in July & December, but the rest of the year is closer to $0/month. Maybe if there's a special sale on PSN/Steam, I'll drop up to $20 for a game, but it's incredibly rare (Case in point: Silksong is the only game I've bought in the last 4 months).

I buy games pretty infrequently. Like I bought Silent Hill f and Digimon Time Stranger together, and together those were close to 200 dollars.

But before that the last big game I bought was Stellar Blade when it released on Steam. And before that...fuck...mightve been Metaphor? Idk. And I don't see any new games that interest me on the horizon.

Outside of those rare big purchases, I might drop 20-30 dollars a month if there's a good sale.

Don't have a budget. I look at money and money out in what I spend my disposable income on. There are a couple of games coming out that I want to spend full price money on, but other than that, everything gets to the discount pile before I buy it.

Generally this.

Kirby Air Riders is going to be my November game, and Absolum was my October game.

I don't budget, but I basically only buy a game here and there when its discounted, or a few games when steam has one of its major seasonal sales.

I dont budget. If I want something I buy it.
There's physical games I bought 8 years ago that I still have not played.

Not necessarily a strict budget, but I only buy maybe two or three full price games per year. The rest that I buy are cheap, discounted games on rather Xbox, steam, or Switch stores.

If I had to warrant a guess, maybe $400-600 total per year?

Not really in a position where I need to budget for a game purchase but I also dont buy anything at release unless I really want it (or its a silent hill game ).
Hmm...
Is it on my wishlist?
Is it massively discounted?
Will I actually play it within the year?

That's my budget.

I dont budget for games at all, largely because there arent that many that interest me these days.

If I want a game, Ill buy it. The price really isnt a factor. But I also dont buy many games.

It means that I end up buying probably less than 5 in a year and its really not a significant amount of money.
I dont budget for games. Its also unusual for me to buy more than 2 games per year

Rookie numbers tbh.

My oldest physical unplayed game I purchased in 2010.

That was Final Fantasy X. I'm thinking about playing it after Death Stranding, though, which would make my oldest physical unplayed game Final Fantasy X-2, also purchased in 2010.

increase in prices have cut that in half.

So the 4 I use to get once a season is now
twice a year.

I skipped FFT and the DQR 1 and 2.

It looks like MP4 will be my last buy this year
