I fucking loved when this was an active blog series. Dude tries the weirdest things he can find, up to and including a Backyard Tree Fungus. It was around even before Bizarre Foods, and I had a much smaller perspective of the world, so the impact was much greater.

Exists only as a headstone for itself, now. Lots of revival offshoot projects, but none have the surprisingly outsized legacy of a game that had been around for 20 years. The wiki goes deep , if you have nothing better to do.

Sure, niche wildlife preservation sites are actually quite numerous, but this one clearly hasn't updated their design since founding. Also, vernal pools are just cool, and I really like their shirts.

Just gonna get this one out of the way right now, before anyone else brings it up:

Apparently last updated January 5, 2000 saying, "Has God died? We can't answer that for you."

I'm glad they preserved it.

This is like that one actor all your grandparents cite for comparison often, but no one else knows who they are. That's us, now. Before and After, ytmnd is only ours.

I was beaten to the Dole/Kemp site, not quite so old, but it has that almost lost feel of older websites.

I was in my teen years in 99 when I came to this site for Dragon Quest when it was still Dragon Warrior and VII had yet to make it to PlayStation: https://www.woodus.com/den/home.php

So some of us learn it is Dragon Quest and the Enix localization was the only translation we had for I-IV, with V and VI these unavailable games and the first remakes for the Erdrick Trilogy was as AVGN puts it, only in Japan.

I had no idea that blog I posted is the origin of none pizza with left beef. That's some weird deep time stuff, there.

Hell, the guy behind the blog, Steven Molaro, went on to be involved with significant chunks of nerd culture. I really only knew it for the weird food bit.

No that's been renovated several times. The old page is gone.

Here I think this is the oldest page. Prepare for psychic damage:

In 1997, Spider-Man The Animated Series aired the three part adaptation of Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars.

Found this site in 1998 and really got me interested in this maxiseries. Which I'd get later in the year. Prior to that, I printed the issue summaries eventually stapling them into book form. Still have them.

I was gonna link timecube, but after I went and read it I realized the current version is just a rehost/replication by a third party that's missing like 99% of the page content, and the original apparently had domain expire about 10 years ago

instead I will link the wikipedia page but it's definitely disqualified which is a shame since to me it was one of the most nostalgic examples of just how bizarre some of the stuff on the old internet was https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Cube
It was a self-published outlet for Ray's "theory of everything", also called "Time Cube", which claims that all modern sciences are participating in a worldwide conspiracy to omit his theory, which posits that each day actually consists of four days occurring simultaneously.
