Wow, this might be the end of Hawkeye's movie career.

I hope this shit isn't true because I like him as Hawkeye and in Tag.

If it is true, just recast him, don't retire the character or kill the character off. But I don't know who could be as good though.

I feel like Renner's version of Clint Barton is too well-ingrained into the MCU for a recast to actually take with the audience. This isn't a case like Rhodes or Banner who had only been in one movie prior to their early recasts, or Ross who was a relatively minor recurring character. Those were easy recasts. For this one they would have to retire or kill the character and have somebody else (Kate Bishop) become the new Hawkeye, unless they pull some Multiverse shenanigans to bring an entirely new and separate Clint in.

Clint's already spent the last decade or so trying to retire, and Kate is right there to replace him, so it's really not difficult to just not use him anymore.
