I've always called him Minato, which I believe to be his canon name. They wouldn't have used the name Makoto in P5 if there was to be confusion with a prior protagonist in the same series, so I presume Atlus sees him as Minato Arisato despite the lack of consistency that Yu Narukami had.

No, Atlus sees him as Makoto Yuki

That's the name they gave him for the Persona 3 movies, much like how Yu Narukami was for the P4 Anime.

The fact that the figma I posted uses Makoto Yuki, which is an official product, only reinforces that.

Minato Arisato is a manga name given to him, much like Souji Seta for the P4 Protagonist.

The P5 Protagonist has one too, Akira Kurusu.

Then that's just bizarre. Why have a protagonist and another playable character with the same name? That doesn't make much sense to me, especially given the fandom both here and in Japan.

I'm treating Akira Kurusu as the P5 protagonist's canon name - thus that's what I named him. I didn't know anything else.
