Final Fantasy Legend 2. EarthBound was my second years later, and it was the first one I loved, prompting me to rent all the SNES RPGs I'd missed by that point.
I technically played a bit of Dragon Warrior before Final Fantasy at a friend's house, but I'd say Final Fantasy for the NES is the first I really played
No problem!
This is a cute and pop genocide of love!
FF1. The Ultima series might have come first, but FF1 was what got me hooked. I'm not sure I actually played either at the time, though- might've just "helped" my dad play.

Friends of the friendless, seize the day!
The problem is the racism against cute Pokemon.

But if you're only talking JRPGs, then it was Final Fantasy VII. Which was pretty much the first JRPG ever to get any kind of attention in Europe (and maybe the fifth JRPG ever even released here)
The shattered stage is set and there's a role you must fulfil
Chrono Trigger maybe? though I was playing it on a friend's SNES that she was borrowing from a friend, so I didn't beat it then. it wasn't until much later that I bought and beat the PS version
first one I beat is Final Fantasy Legend III
You put your RESOLVE HAT back on, which conveniently is the same hat as your NORMAL HAT.

It's okay to name WRPGs, MMORPGs, SRPGs, or whatever you think is appropriate if you consider it an RPG. Just asking for your first RPG, not exclusively your first JRPG.
