but I also miss season 4/5 when Carol was the best on the show; the writers have like no idea what to do with her now

They're in a weird place with Carol where she pretty much has plot immunity (I think the writers have said they wouldn't feel right killing her after how far she's come since Domestic Abuse Victim). Anyway, I'm fond of Garbage Lady

Maggie is still solid but again they're doing nothing worthwhile with her this season

as opposed to Negan and Eugene, who I'm excited to see literally every time they're on screen

Negan will be fine (I liked that line in the last episode. "Everyone's going to die...not me, I'm too good at this"), but Eugene's probably pulling a heroic sacrifice to save Rick or something. He has no way out though, the Saviors are screwed and everyone in Rick's group except Rick would probably just shoot him

Eugene was great in small doses, but he's kind of become too gimmicky this season. But anyway, Negan is completely carrying the show right now. Honorable mention to King Ezekiel and Jerry though.
