Coach of the Year: Cowboys' Gunther Cunningham (14-2, 90 Team Rating)
Returner of the Year
Pumpkins' Alley Broussard (47 KR for 28.5 avg, 45 PR for 10.6 avg, 3 TDs)
Rams' Roy Helu Jr. (58 KR for 28.8 avg, 47 PR for 10.6 avg, 2 TDs)
Really tough call, but I guess I'll give it to Broussard... Nah, changed my mind. Gotta go Helu with the slightly better average on more returns.
Punter of the Year
Plackemeier punted the ball the most. Richardson punted the ball the best. Anger a close second. (Richardson is my pick)
Kicker of the Year
Jets' Lawrence Tynes (33-38 FGAs, 30-30 XPAs, 6-7 from 50+)
Defensive Back of the Year
Giants' SS Drew Kelson (102 tackles, 4 INTs, 3 FFs, 7 FRs)
Linebacker of the Year
Packers' LOLB Spencer Havner (172 tackles, 6 sacks, 4 INTs, 5 FFs, 1 FR)
Defensive Lineman of the Year
Oh, no, another tough one. DT Charles Alexander takes it in the end for me.
Offensive Lineman of the Year
Hawks' RT Justin Blalock (63 blocks, 1 sack allowed)
Tight End of the Year
Wildcats' Dane Guthrie (85 receptions for 741 yards, 6 TDs)
Wide Receiver of the Year
Dolphins' Kelly Campbell (87 receptions for 1415 yards, 15 TDs)
Running Back of the Year
Jaguars' Adrian Peterson (257 carries for 1314 yards, 19 receptions for 163 yards, 15 TDs)
Easily wins with like 5.1 yards per carry or something and had the most TDs.
Quarterback of the Year
Pumpkins' Chris Leak (304-460, 3363 yards, 33 TDs, 11 INTs)
Rams' Ryan Tannehill (288-431, 3336 yards, 27 TDs, 9 INTs)
Very thin margin here, and if I had procrastinated less, I'd have asked KCF about their rushing stats so I could decide a winner. I guess I'll go with Tannehill in the end due to his better YPA.
Defensive Rookie of the Year
Pioneers' DT Geno Atkins (51 tackles, 10 sacks, 2 FFs, 2 FRs)
Pumpkins' LOLB Nick Perry (70 tackles, 5 sacks, 3 INTs, 2 FFs, 2 FRs)
I don't know who to pick here... I think I'll go Perry with just a slight edge due to the 3 INTs. But maybe I'm picking wrong here.
Offensive Rookie of the Year
Rams' QB Ryan Tannehill (288-431, 3336 yards, 27 TDs, 9 INTs)
Defensive Player of the Year:
It's probably between Spencer Havner and Drew Kelson, and I don't know who to take. 7 FRs for Kelson is absolutely insane regardless of circumstance. Havner filled up the stat sheet accross the board. As much as I've railed against the horrible picks the users have made here for going with "whoever has the most tackles wins" in the past, Spencer Havner earned it everywhere else, so he is my pick this year. I miss you Spencer. :(
Offensive Player of the Year:
Running out of time here, but gonna go with Tannehill once again here (probably just a bit over guys like Kelly Campbell and Adrian Peterson).
MVP:
,,, Havner or Tannehill... going with Havner.
BPOTY: Havner
CPOTY: don't have time unfortunately to actually makea decision
GM of the Year: I worked out some reason back when these were posted to give this to Emerald. I don't have time to think any more about it right now since I need to get these picks in, so hopefully I had good reasons. It was probably something like, I'm obviously not voting for myself, plus I messed up this past off-season, Jukkie didn't make the playoffs, and Stan has traded away his future or something. I dunno. posting bfore 7 PM now.

Pocket passers, really the only kind of QB you will ever find listed for QB of the Year, do not run with the ball really at all. Leak and Tannehill ran with the ball seven times this season. You can see why I never mention QB rushing stats in game summaries or stat PMs unless you are like Portis, Vick, or Vince Young.

Two things:
1. As I mentioned earlier, I received multiple PMs regarding the overwhelming choices for Off Player, Def Player, and MVP awards. In one user's case, they elected to not vote a few of the categories. I thought about compacting the list from this year by having an expanded list of previous years by making the nomination pool for those awards from Madden's Top 10 instead of 5. However, they give no love to OL or DL, and we saw some love for the former this year, so I don't think I can come up with a creative compromise. Instead, I am leaning in future years just saying you can choose any nominee from applicable categories. I'm not sure if that will help or not.
2. Every year, someone laments that X player wasn't nominated for Y award. That award is most often Comeback Player of the Year. Unless a player missed literally or essentially the entire season before, I often do not consider them for the award. I look more at players who had a bounceback performance, such as Babineaux, or had a return to form that was long overdue, like Ronnie Brown. If people typically value injured players over those that I laid out, then I will try to include more of them in the future, but I need to know how many games they needed to have missed the previous year.

- Add award winners to wiki
- Add playoff results to wiki (still TBD)
- Add SB-winning players to wiki (still TBD)
- Officially start asking people if they will return or leave (after playoffs)

I would be fine with this, I would think it's rare for the winner of those awards to have not been even in the running for the award at their respective positions.

I meant to say that instead of typing out a massive block of text, which is what people seemed to have concerns over, I just write one sentence saying choose anyone from these categories. The problem is when a scrambling QB like Vick/Portis/Young has a great season. I think I will just have to not-so-subtly add a line saying, oh yeah, there's also this guy with this statline.

Oh don't worry about it, I was trying to suggest content for the topic during the long waiting period until the award show/playoffs.
My players need to post better stats, I think in the 4 seasons I've done I can only remember Jamario Thomas and Adam Tufts being up for awards. Maybe a stray 1 or 2 others but last 2 years have been sparse.

Not a lot of buzz regarding these playoffs, but I will give my Wild Card Round predictions:
Pioneers over Bills
Vikings over Falcons
Jets over Bengals
Giants over Panthers
Due to Madden being weird with seeding in future rounds, I won't give predictions for those, but I think that the Broncos and Cowboys will meet in the Super Bowl (such a bold prediction I know) with the Broncos emerging as our first AI SB winner.

Is the AI getting better this year because of us being worse or is it partially to do with them having more cap space?
Also my hype for the playoffs is more related to retirements and rating changes! My roster is gonna be such a mess next year

Well two of the 5 drafted highly rated QBs with top 5 draft picks last year, and Tannehill ended up being arguably the best QB in the league this season.
But it is true that 3 of the 5 are well over the user cap, with the Broncos being a whopping 20 million above it. Though obviously there are also AI teams like Redskins and Colts who are way over the user cap and didn't make the playoffs, and they weren't particularly close to making it either.
