Maybe they should have tried making a game that wasn't a pale imitation of a different game. That could have helped.

I really don't understand why he claimed to leave Epic for stifling creativity, and then went on to make....two games to try and cash in on fads.

Yeah if he stayed at Epic he could've been making UT4 and Fortnite... the same games, just successful. I think he actually ended up being a better designer than a business guy, even though he was such a public personality. The team had so much talent but pretty much all the business decisions were bad.

I'm not sure how much control over business decisions he actually had with Lawbreakers after they signed their deal with Nexon.

Of course you could say that signing a deal with Nexon was the worst business decision of them all, so you'd still be right

Nexon was very late in the process I think. I was following boss key since day 1 and the game's design when it released seems pretty on point to their original vision. The game just wasn't that good.

Although I don't think the Nexon deal helped much at all... I mean, they were supposed to get all the player connections and marketing, and didn't get it. When you're indie, tying your success to a 3rd party like that usually defeats the point and gives you the worst of both worlds.

i mean the only reason i know of lawbreakers is because its dropoff is a giant meme.
and by extension i know of CliffyB for being "that guy with the game who had its active players list tank so bad, random 10 year old games are doing better."

Which is a shame, since he was part of the creation of Jazz Jackrabbit, Unreal, and Gears of War.
