Since when did a one note character actor get so many leading roles?Probably a combination of a good agent and being one of Hollywood's "it" factors currently, sure he was more of that back in like 2016-ish or so but still holds on today

I don't see the reason why they didn't just let Charles Martinet voice the character(s) he's been voicing for nearly 30 years, but I guess that's why I'm not in Hollywood. People recognize Mario's voice by now, and though I actually can picture most of the cast in their roles doing well, it's an unnecessary move when the guy was right there .Same here. Feel sorry for the bloke and seems like a genuine guy
I guess it's a win, as long as this doesn't lead to Nintendo outsourcing its actual games to western devs.I mean, Nintendo already own a couple of western studios who are responsible for some of their best games.
Chris Pratt especially. I've liked the guy in a lot of things, but he has zero range. He's been in the Lego Movies as well, so we've seen what he can do with voice acting and he literally could only play Chris Pratt in them just like everything else.Well, if Mario will sound like Lego Movie's Emmet, then yes, I agree it's not a good fit
I'm still wondering what the story will be other than 'Bowser kidnaps Peach and Mario tries to rescue her'.Mario seems like a weird choice of Nintendo franchise to adapt into a film, partly because the plot is usually so basic. When Super Mario Galaxy tried to have a more ambitious plot, someone at Nintendo (Iwata I think, but please correct me if I'm wrong) flipped out and demanded it be removed, so the developers put Rosalina's backstory in a secret room instead.

The second reason this seems weird to me is that the tone of most Nintendo games, especially Mario, doesn't lend itself to the snarky humour that you tend to get in Hollywood movies. Nintendo's games are usually more earnest and sincere than that. Kid Icarus Uprising is the only one I can think of that would fit that tone while remaining true to the spirit of the game.
Finally, who will be the Minions stand-in? My money's on the Goombas.
