Since we're talking manga spoilers, I think I've settled on a theory for what the One Piece actually is now that we know the World Government can raise the sea level. I reckon it's a map of the world before it got flooded, when the world was still in 'one piece'. Seems like the kind of absurd thing Roger would laugh at.

Still the number one reason for the success of the Internet.

I think it's a reference to the name of the forgotten nation.

Of course we know it was an initial already in use when the World Government was founded. Maybe it was granted to a group of people, or a resistance movement?

Ivankov suggested it might be an ancient weapon that Vegapunk either reactivated or rediscovered. There are other clues too, the other nations with a super weapon, Water 7 and Wano, built up and away from the water, not to mention Mary Geoise being on the top of the Red Line. Also Joyboy left fishman island a whole-ass ark.

my god thats ingenious. also explains why blackbeard isnt a true D, because he's an asshole. But then again rocks xebec is also a bad D, so maybe the twist will be blackbeard and rocks are backwards D's like a sad face because they bring misery instead of joy.

I dont think theres any need for the D clan to be pure of heart or anything, if anything i feel like its more related to rebellion against the WG/Gorosei/Imu and events that happened in the void century (see: recent reveal about the Nefertari family). And though Blackbeard has his own nefarious goals, his ideals are not that far from Luffys in terms of dreams and freedom (in a bastardized way)

Thats a really interesting way of looking at that actually

D could also have something to do with DON. Oda uses don with almost every reveal, and Tom talked about doing things with a don. It could be a word in any language that starts with "don," including even if that's just how it's spelled in katakana. Latin, Sanskrit, English, anything. Like some non-english katakana reading because he never wanted people guessing it easily, and an ancient kingdom would use an ancient language

But also the theory of the D being a smiley also works for Aces hat and death. Ace smiled in the face of death, while Blackbeard despaired.

No, I'm pretty sure it's a common misconception. He wasn't the D Roger was waiting for is what Whitebeard said, but it doesn't mean he's not a real D. This is of course without us knowing fully what it means but yeah.

Oda is going hard on promoting it and all of the press out about it has been great. I have high hopes that at minimum it will be far and away the best live-action anime adaptation but it could be genuinely good on top of that

Im partway through episode 1 of the Netflix show now and so far its great! The camp aesthetics work well and it looks really good - if this were on greenscreen it would appear terrible so thank goodness for the sets. First Zoro scene was amazing.

Okay, my first episode thoughts:

-Overall its very good, great pacing, mostly looks terrific.

-The main cast is GREAT, but we already knew that. Really good chemistry when the three of them are together.

-The bounty poster cut-ins are a great way of introducing the pirates, especially the way they do the one at the end.

-Namis wig looks better than it does in the trailer, Zoros hair colour seems to look a little different so they may have changed the colour grading a little.

-Action is very well shot and choreographed, they do some tricks to make the stretching look better and not hideously expensive like having Luffy just off-screen.

-Soundtrack was surprisingly a highlight, will definitely be listening to this.

-Its not perfect, some characters look better than others. Morgans jaw looks kinda bad. Also I dont like that they have TWO teases at the end of the first episode rather than just one but this might just be a me thing.

-In the season preview, I like the way Arlong looks dont @ me.

8/10 good stuff. Reviews seem mostly very positive as well.

Reviews seem positive, starting at 79% on RT with a more impressive average score of 7.3. For reference thats a little better than The Witcher season 1 and Wednesday, and much better than Cowboy Bebop, but well see where it settles.

Also I didnt realise that the narrator was being played by ~~Ian McShane~~ .
