Probably will run Switch games the same. Ideally Id love it to be the last option, but cant imagine it actually happening.
Digital yes, physical no.
This isn't funny Dean, the voice says I'm almost out of minutes!

Middle option seems very likely to me.

Middle option seems almost guaranteed just based on what we've heard. I'd LOVE for it to be the bottom option but sadly I doubt it's going to happen beyond patches to update specific games. Hope Astral Chain can at least get an update in that case!

With this gathering power, go beyond even time!
if it's not at least the middle option for physical and digital, i might legitimately be done with nintendo consoles

Why is that? You want to get rid of your old Switch when you get a new one?

Don't want to get rid of it completely, but hooking up old consoles is annoying and experience tells me I'm pretty unlikely to do it. And I have lots of Switch games I haven't finished yet.

I guess the bigger issue is just that I own 100+ Switch games and if Nintendo moves towards abandoning BC I'm not likely to ever invest that much money in their games ever again.

Fair. It'd definitely be nice if I could play my PS3 games on PS4/PS5...

Why be backwards compatible when they can sell you the HD/Deluxe/Remastered version a few years later!

Congratulations to azuarc, the guru of gurus and winner of GotD 2020!
They'll do enhanced ports for specific games like the last option. It's Nintendo, you'll be rebuying old games.
Welcome to your Divinity.
i think the main reason they did a full refresh from wii u to switch was because of sales. with switch as successful as it is, they're probably more than concerned of the backlash they'd receive if they didn't have full backwards compatibility for the switch, even on the physical side, so i feel like it's the most likely outcome

anyway yeah i doubt it'll enhance them beyond being able to run them however slightly better the specs naturally allow for. with the rumours that it won't even have an oled screen it's likely to be debatable if they're better even if they were "enhanced". so... yeah i'm feeling they'll be left as-is
