Rules: If you list more than 4 things I'm gonna just tally the first 4 you say. If you list the same character multiple times it won't count. Be nice. Don't shove your personal definition of "Mount Rushmore" down others' throats. Have fun. If you're going to majorly change a vote please quote your old vote to make it easier for me.

Stand-up-specific rules: Real people only, no fictional comedians. They need to have been a stand-up comedian for a substantial amount of their career and been well known for it, they can't be a celeb who did one or two sets as a stunt.

YESTERDAY: Easily the most competitive Rushmore we've ever had, resulting in a 4-way tie for 4th. We have those sometimes but they never last, but for this one we actually had a 6-WAY TIE for 3rd at one point.

We also had SotC and Journey trade first place back and fourth the entire time. Overall this was one of the most fun Rushmores we have done and it inspired some actual debate, which was the entire idea. It was also a lot of fun to see everyone's different interpretations of "art," including Snake for Nokia phones (thanks, MoMA).

Shoutout to Braid which may have actually had a shot at the Top 4 if the pro-Braid Brigade had shown up a little earlier. Braid went from 2 votes to 7 very quickly and it could have easily made up lost ground if there was more time.

WTF answer: Custer's Revenge and two other horny games, I didn't count them due to horny. I think if the argument of "they make me horny like true art" was posted I would have counted them

This one has been on the schedule forever, and of all the Rushmores people have asked me to "break up" to make them more specific, nobody has ever even brought this one up (which is weird but idk how it would be broken up anyway, i guess by era)

4th is harder. those 3 though, they're each arguable GOAT and influenced multiple generations as well as countless comedians. tentatively, and scanning through this topic:

Jon Stewart

Daily Show's influence is one i'd put over people like Gervais, Norm, Eddie Murphy, or Joan who i'd consider possible 4ths too. but of them, i gotta stick with Jon.

Richard Pryor (a must)
George Carlin (a must)
Jerry Seinfeld (his iconic TV series even featured him as a stand-up comedian probably every episode)
Jeff Foxworthy (I saw him and Trevor Noah perform live in the same night before, both crushed it)

Does Jon Stewart count? I thiiiiink so because he was a real stand-up comedian, but he's far and away more known for his work on the Daily Show than any stand-up comedy specials.

Dave Chappelle has a legitimate case for making it on because I think only he and George Carlin are in the running for having the highest number of *excellent* comedy specials. I think Chappelle Show was the best-selling DVD series at one point too, plus Richard Pryor passed the torch to him. That said, his past several specials have been a one-two combo against having him on. Sticks and Stones and The Closer in particular were much more divisive and much less funny joke-wise. He's reshaping his legacy at the moment so I'll wait.

Speaking of black comedians: Kevin Hart, Katt Williams, and Eddie Murphy could all make it on this too.

Maria Bamford's my favorite female comedian and has a lot of great and unique work, just hard to compete with some of the biggest names here plus she's not for everybody.

Rest in peace long ago to my favorite comedian Greg Giraldo, which I found out about from a Board 8 topic that I clicked while thinking it was titled "RIP Geraldo." Swerved me into oblivion.

And I just want Dave Attell's name mentioned here too.

I wish more people knew the impact of Moms Mabley. Like I get it, most people are voting for the people they like and know. But I'd really encourage people to actually look her up. She deserves a lot more recognition than she gets. She influenced a LOT of comedians both men and women.
