My Vote: Gonna go with Xenoblade Chronicles here, even though the game looks like ass.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
I've decided to put my fears behind me. I'm not going back.
If you're gonna scream, scream with me
Perfect first two votes, definitely down to Xenoblade and Prime 3 for me.

Prime 3 but it's close
"You're childish. What are you getting? Are you getting strawberry? Ha! That's such a childish flavor, only children eat strawberry."
Xenoblade Chronicles

More ambitious than most 360/PS3 RPGs.
All the stars in the sky are waiting for you.
was thinking MP3 & Xenoblade before clicking

I'mma land on Xenoblade

Xenoblade Chronicles

The scale of the world and the draw distance were super impressive for consoles , and unbelievable on the Wii. Also wouldnt say it looked like ass, just the character models which were a sacrifice for the environments. It took them four games to get to good looking character models haha.

Blaaaaaaargh azuarc
xenoblade is an easy answer but it's guaranteed on the poll so instead i'll give a support to Dragon Quest X , for being unsurprisingly the only game big enough to require multiple discs lol
I do want to give an honourable mention to Skyward Sword as it was basically on a level with a lot of big 360/PS3 games and doing a lot of interesting things with motion controls.

figured i'd mention i was contemplating other alternative options like smg 1/2, sonic colors, dkc returns, skyward sword, and also the last story, but due to their largely linear design they didn't really justify being taken over xenoblade imo (it's probably not a big surprise but colors had the overall edge among them slightly for me). i also thought a bit about ones like brawl (for how much content it had), mkwii (for having much better netcode), certain gamecube ports such as new play control pikmin 1 or 2 and re4 (for the quality of their controls), and i also thought about prime 3 and also prime trilogy, and if not for the fact that i realised that dqx beat it out handily in size and scope i probably would've gone with trilogy
Nothing really stands out as technically impressive once you get to this gen imo
azuarc wasn't even home. he was playing Magic the Gathering at his buddy's store, which is extremely easy to verify
i do think that wii spearheading motion controls did give a valid reason to consider games that put said tech to actually impressive use (especially given the advantages wiimotes still hold in several areas over the likes of joycons), the one real issue is not much of that is really at the top of the pile here past that, as many of the more experimental stuff was just remarkably limited on the control front because of it (often only playable in one control style, or else practically only)

of course, considering that most of the real technological advantages the wii had over the gamecube were the larger disc sizes, it's not really super fair to say its games should've been any looking better than they did lol. it was a low budget shovelware library system for reasons beyond just its successfully marketed gimmicks, there was just that little reason to push it given how blatantly far behind it was for its time

in light of that, it's another reason i think the fact that SE decided an mmo was worth pursuing on the system at all is a noteworthy outlier, even if it wasn't the most advanced on the market. sure, there wasn't much doubt that it could handle one given the gamecube had pso, but there was really no reason to put in the work to make one for the wii of all things in its generation, let alone to continue prioritising its development through two further expansions (well okay, square was also still supporting ps2 ffxi so it's not that out there but still, ps2 was actively comparable to it in performance right down to the disc space lol and there were reasons to optimise its (non-gimmick) hardware. heck the sheer novelty value of ffxi on ps2 kicking on more than likely lead it to hold onto a larger playerbase through the 2010s than dqx did even in just japan, probably)
Yeah I think the Wii also as a system that was behind its contemporaries in terms of power by a much bigger than normal margin (probably still the biggest gap to date for a major console) also made the games that were really punching above their weight stand out more. Also there are some games that still do some pretty technically impressive things even now, but the rate of progression has definitely slowed down.

Xenoblade Chronicles - Monolith has worked some absolutely insane black magic getting unreasonable levels of presentation out of every platform this series has been on, but it all started here. The sheer scale of the environments here was amazing at the time by any metric, so seeing them on the Wii was downright mind blowing.
Let the voice of love take you higher,
With this gathering power, go beyond even time!
building further on my comment (more biased commentary i'll spoiler to avoid trying to influence votes incoming) the big reason i somehow ended up neglecting to directly touch on before on why i felt an mmo was notable is because among the many ways the wii was a terrible option for one, its netcode being complete and utter dogshit compared to the ps3 and 360 (even if, again, technically still demonstratably "viable" thanks to the likes of pso and arguably also ffxi before them, never mind the fact that they needed adapters lol) was a crucial point. the amount of headaches i can imagine development must've caused at the time makes me really wonder why they didn't just jump ship to solely working on the wii u version at a moment's notice. heck, even the fact that they didn't cancel it and only release the wii u version at the time was wild, it was right before its release.
