the best console ever made is PC because it can play everything else but you guys aren't ready for that conversation smh

this is as dumb as the people who say that consoles with backwards compatibility are better than their predecessors because it includes the entire previous libraryBackwards compatibility is a useful feature, especially the digital library style that Sony and Microsoft have been doing recently. I'm not actually including PC, it's not actually a console so it's disqualified, but I think considering it is valid.
SNES and Genesis are pretty silly entries, but I guess that's the power of nostalgia.I put the Genesis on mine because it was the first system after the NES came out that really made Nintendo flinch a little bit. It was the first home console that actually made them look somewhat vulnerable and incentivized more competition in the industry, and there was the famous console wars thing that can still be felt to some degree even today (albeit with Sega not part of them obviously). It's hard for me to not think the thing didn't have at least a little influence on Sony joining the console game later.
the thing got outsold in Japan by the SaturnAs it should.

The Saturn...especially in Japan, was awesome.
Yeah, I don't understand having the Wii instead of the Switch. The Switch has done everything the Wii did, only better. I think you can only put the Wii on here if you're just giving it credit for doing it first.
Specifically I chose SNES and Genesis because they started "the console wars" which I think is a big part of the identity of console gaming.I love SNES/Genesis as the Magic/Bird of consoles, and I wish I could put them up as an untieable duo on the same spot, but as a Genesis kid, picking from the two... I know that I got to play great games, but I missed out on more great games.
I probably keep SNES regardless but Genesis might replace with Wii or 360. MAYBE replace both with both but I do think SNES library being as strong as it was at the time it was matters.
Absolutely, and even then you could say the NES, PS1, and PS2 were also breaking into the mainstream before the Wii.
Sure the Wii was a huge moment but so was the Switch. There are lots of people who have only ever owned a Switch as well, especially those who got one in the pandemic.
The things you can say for the Wii are that it codified Nintendos plans to not go all in power, it normalised releasing old games on modern consoles, and motion controls are here to stay, albeit as a minor feature. None of that quite adds up to Rushmore worthy. It was also amusingly I think the first home console with wifi capabilities out of the box as the OG Xbox 360 didnt have it, but nobody is touting the Wii as the most important online console.
Lets be real though: the SNES is an absolute pretender to the throne here. No reason to vote for it at all other than nostalgia, sure it had a great library but so do all of these except the NES. Honestly even the N64 has a place above the SNES due to its importance in the shift to 3D.
Anyway, the 360 is a system I never even owned but should absolutely be on here because of how important it was to modern gaming, especially with its use of online features. Its the base of all current consoles, were all basically playing Xbox 360s now.

Atari 2600Fuck it, change 2600 to Wii. Might as well ensure one of those two win.
NES
PS2
Switch
SNES is what doesn't belong here from the popular options, I think
does anyone care about console wars anymore i feel like that died over a decade ago
Maybe the Switch should belong her, but I have never used it as a home console. As far as I'm concerned it's a portable system with an adapter. If the Switch dock counts as a home console, then the Super Game Boy and the Game Boy Player should also count since they do the exact same thing.

Honestly, a good argument for the N64 is that it probably has the highest concentration of good games of any major console with their entire libraries taken into account
