I tried the game and don't care for it at all, but it seems like a quiet phenomenan? Saw someone say it's wildly more popular internationally, but have not looked into that myself.
Same. I don't understand the hype at all.
This is a borderline
bad
game with some of the most widely varying RNG I've ever seen. Sheer randomness in what a unit will do at any given time is the only attempt at difficulty the game makes. Most maps just get run over until it randomly decides to start messing with your damage. It's even worse than Disgaea in this regard.
Worse, using in battle saves to test things I've found that, with subtle changes to a battle that are
completely inconsequential
, it is perfectly normal for a unit to go from beating another unit to getting totally destroyed by it.
Attacking a unit on the completely opposite side of the map can cause a unit the game told you will easily win a fight when you started marching it to lose the fight just as easily as it originally claimed it would win. If you don't cancel that march you're basically sacking a unit for nothing, because the way the game calculates the fights is completely nonsensical.
In the map I just completed, if I let the boss of this map summon a troop before I kill it, I easily kill the troop, but all of my units stop doing almost any damage to the boss (even with assists). If I take out the boss before that random spawn, it goes down effortlessly.
This game feels like it has absolutely no idea what it's doing and is just winging it most of the time. Even units that should hard counter other units get this problem sometimes where they inexplicably get wrecked.
