yeah I dunno, to me getting to 100% is, like, how I make sure "I've seen everything there is to see" so it was weird that i hit it and then beat the final boss but then kept reading about things i missed so i opened the game to go do them including multiple boss fights!
Okay, the extra fight with Shakra is impossible (this is a bigger spoiler than most boss names)

I've decided to give up on this one

A lot of things indirectly count because they block something that does. Like Memory Lockets don't count, but you need apparently 18/20 for Sylphsong .

I honestly had no idea how to advance her. I got the first 2 omni-slots just naturally, but I never used any memory lockets I didn't have to, because I basically only did full wanderer's. i did use reaper for a bit so i had that done too but i never touched the others mostly. And her lines just said like "come back to me when you've unlocked more power" which was vague af to me so I had to look up how to do it in the end and ofc I had the lockets but I was never upgrading beast or architect so yeah
Alright I thought the calls for it were a little harsh at first, but now that I'm doing Bilewater I must now support eradicating Australia

Alright two questions. I have two bosses that I could fight right now (Lugoli and Groal the Great) , but it's very annoying to fight them right now, partly due to the long runbacks and partly due to the maggot water .

1. Is there a way to negate the effects of the maggot water and Lugoli's attack ? I've heard there's an equipment for this but haven't found it.

2. Is it possible to fix the bench in Sinner's Road that's closest to Lugoli?

Yeah
All the stars in the sky are waiting for you.
Yes on both counts.
  1. It's in an area you might not have been to yet. Have you done the Songclave Wishwall quest for the lost shopkeeper? That one points you towards it
  2. Look for a breakable wall

The one where you find the shopkeeper and they return to Songclave? Yeah, but it was quite some time ago.

2. Look for a breakable wall

Well shit, I've been looking all over for one, but I guess I didn't look in the right places.

just to make sure the answer wasn't misleading: you're not fixing the bench so don't think that means the breakable wall is near the bench

Well, there are a couple quests like that. Not sure which one's been done.
All the stars in the sky are waiting for you.
Oh. Does it happen more than once? I forgot.
To be clear, the quests I've done for Songclave that I remember (paraphrased):

Find the lost mechant
Donate rosaries
Get fine pins
Get cloaks
Donate more rosaries
Rescue Sherma from Whiteward

I'm pretty sure you haven't done it because it's one of the later Songclave quests. It'll probably show up soon.

On the Sinner's Road bench I'd describe the breakable wall as quite close to it .

Damn it, I was sure I'd tried hitting that wall!

Managed to fix it and then beat Lugoli first try after fixing it...which kinda negated the entire reason I was trying to fix it.

Man, I just checked the board at Songclave and there it is. What triggered that?!

Quests keep appearing the more progress you make in the game. Not sure if there's anything specific that makes them appear.

Some quests are locked behind completing others though, so you might want to do them quickly.

oh i'm just completely inaccurate today. i thought it was asking about something else.
I definitely think Savage Beastfly is one of those bosses, like Watcher Knights in HK, is a boss that many will look back and kind of wonder why it gave them so much trouble. First one at least.

Yeah, I'm just confounded because I periodically kept checking the board and it was empty for a long time. I think either getting the Bilewater map or beating Lugoli must have triggered it to appear since I don't think I've done all that much since I last checked.

Anyway, they put in a third area with maggot water? Somehow every new area is a new "oh god no"

At least Bilewater has the coolest theme music.

Finally got (end of act 2) the quest I need to move on to act 3. This kind of felt a bit arbitrary. I'm pretty sure what the game was waiting for was the flea caravan moving again, but the progression here just doesn't make a lot of sense overall. Just kind of seems like "start doing random stuff until eventually talking to the character who's been there the whole time gives new dialogue".

Also the S econd Sentinel fight was neat. Is that optional? Seems like I could very easily have just never triggered this one.
I didn't do guru this year but azuarc can be in my sig anyways.

I'm at 55 and feeling the same. Truly the Elden Ring of Metroidvanias.

Currently trying to beat the Act 2 boss cursed for the secret ending. I remember beating this boss in 3 tries and thought it was quite easy - now I know why! Think I'm getting extremely close though. Was probably a few hits away my last death.

So did they actually nerf Sister Splinter herself, or did they just make the enemies that were her adds do 1 damage?

Wild that I can find a Youtube video "Ranking EVERY Silksong Act 2 Boss", and then discover that there's still 3 bosses I haven't done, and also there's 3 bosses I have done that the Youtuber apparently missed because they are not in the video. How much stuff is in this game? Are there any bosses that neither me nor the Youtuber found?

yeah, its incredibly arbitrary. Its getting the fleas to the final location, certain specific quests like the Shakra one and getting the house in Bellheart, and doing a certain amount of other quests, which have invisible point values assigned to them, none of which the game tells you about.

End of Act 2 spoiler discussion

Fleas make sense as a requirement seeing as their final location is the only place they'd be safe. The Caretaker regularly remarks on how helpful Hornet is being as you complete more and more quests, and the entire point of Act 3 being an option is that Hornet has decided to place value in Pharloom over her own Weaver instincts so it makes a good amount of sense looking back at it even if it's not immediately clear there's something for you to do in the moment. If you need to give someone a hint on how to get to Act 3 you can just tell them to do their Wishes and find Fleas and that'll definitely get them there.

Mount Fay is fun. Definitely not one of the top 20 hardest parts of the game, and maybe only the third hardest platforming challenge.

I just hate the timer.

I think Mt Fay would have been a little less stressful if there was an actual timer/meter that showed how much time you had left, but I agree that it wasn't that bad.

I was relieved that the creature at the top was not a boss fight.

I actually liked Mount Fay when I'm usually pretty down on platforming sections. (Path of Pain was by far my least favorite part of the original game, for example.)

Give me low to medium difficulty platforming on a timer over hard platforming any day
I didn't do guru this year but azuarc can be in my sig anyways.
The hardest part of Mt Fay is just realizing you're supposed to do it without an upgrade first . Usually hell runs are better signposted than that because they go against metroidvania instincts.
"You're childish. What are you getting? Are you getting strawberry? Ha! That's such a childish flavor, only children eat strawberry."
Mt. Fay is fine. I will say I dislike the grapple in general. I don't think it feels good. The fact that it also uses silk is kind of BS, since there's not always weak enemies or spools to replenish.

I mean, while it sucks since it prevents you for using it for healing, your silk does auto-replenish from 0 up to the number of silk hearts you have. So you can't run out of silk for grappling.

Using Silk is how they deter you from infinite use in combat. In practice a second Silk Heart basically nullifies that problem for platforming.

Although successful hits replenish anyway, so I dunno.
"One toot on this whistle will take you to a far away land."
-Toad, SMB3
Yeah, it's mainly the inability to heal which is the problem I have. Most of the time they provide some fodder or a spool, but I know there were a few rooms where using the grapple completely removed my ability to heal, so what would have been 10 tries basically became 5 tries.

But that's less important to me than the fact that there's something off with it in terms of how it feels. Like sometimes it really didn't come out when I pressed it. I also dislike how it sends you airborne when you hit an enemy without you pressing a button. I ALSO don't like how it's a toggle when you're hooked into a ring and not a hold. I dunno, it still hasn't felt good to me, having gone through all of Act 2 now

I wish the grapple didnt cost silk, particularly for each second of freezing that it costs me to wait for a refill

Yeah I highly recommend having at least a second Silk Heart (the refills you get at empty) before doing Mt Faye. I had the second incidentally and I won't try it again without at least that.
