The Mount Rushmore of: Cancelled / Forever-Delayed Games

Rules

1. You may vote up to 4 entries that fit the prompt.
2. No alts.
3. No deleting or editing posts; though, editing posts shortly after you post is fine.
4. If you change your vote, clearly indicate that you are changing a previous vote. Same for adding or subtracting picks.
5. In general, if there are two picks that can be considered the same product (i.e. Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle), I will combine them.
6. If a vote is vague, I will pick the first available choice that best matches the vote (i.e. "Mario" for Wii Games becomes Super Mario Galaxy).
7. I will post the parameters of each Rushmore topic. Other than that, feel free to vote however you like and based on any criteria that best fits the "Mount Rushmore" of that topic.
8. If a vote doesn't fit the topic, it will count as a blank vote.
9. You may nominate as much as you want and have an unlimited amount of seconds for established nominations.
10. Every Sunday, I'll post the schedule for next week. I will pick based on the number of nominations. Any ties will be determined by RNG.

I had absolutely no idea how this would shake out. A few debates about which of these are actual one hit wonders, but I'm pretty happy with the results. Though, I had a friend that really liked Gotye so I kinda traced his career a bit!

You must pick games that are cancelled or essentially cancelled in all-but-name.

Games do not necessarily need to be announced to be a cancelled game - it could be based on speculation or a leak.

If a game is released as of today, they do not count, no matter how long they were delayed.

There's no time limit for when a game is forever-delayed, but be reasonable with the amount. If a game was announced for the first time in 2020, that's not exactly the same as a release date set for 2020 and then moved back two separate times.

Also just on Half-Life - Half-Life 3 was never announced. There have not officially been any delays. Half-Life 2 Episode 3 is the one that got lots of delays and then was eventually cancelled.

Its the same kind of logic that goes into calling EarthBound 64 a cancelled game. It got morphed into a different released game.

Then shouldn't this just be the 'canceled' games mount rushmore? Seems weird to include 'forever delayed' if you're excluding games that are... you know, forever delayed. Forever delayed literally refers to games that have very long development periods.

Actually forever delayed literally means delayed forever. If they eventually come out, then they are delayed for a very, very, very long time, but not forever.

If they haven't come out yet, but haven't been cancelled, then one day they could still come out, and therefore be ineligible after the voting has already taken place.

I think "forever delayed" gives leeway for stuff that hasn't been officially canceled

Replace Tekken X Street Fighter with Capcom Fighting All-Stars.

Now that I think about it Tekken X SF pretty much only had a promo image shown for it and that was it. Capcom Fighting All-Stars actually has legacy to it, and it was suppose to be Ingrid's debut game before she went on to drift in several other games before making a formal appearance in SF6.

Forever delayed means that it's a game that hasn't formally been cancelled yet (as in no PR announcement that it got canned). One of the big example of this would actually be Tekken X Street Fighter. Where Katsuhiro Harada has repeatedly said that "No, we haven't actually cancelled it yet. Journalists got it wrong"

True, but for any of these we can only vote on the information we have now. Who's to say that next year, some One Hit Wonder comes out that is so big that 20 years from now people agree it indisputably belongs on that Rushmore?

Regardless, it's the way it's defined in the OP, so even though Duke Nukem Forever and Shantae Advance had notoriously long delays (and at least Shantae was officially cancelled and revived), they don't count per the TC's definition.

Half-Life Alyx used some assets from Episode 3 too, but it's not the same game. New games use assets from canceled games all the time. Overwatch used a ton of assets from Titan, but is 100% not Titan.

Ok I know the ruling removes Duke Nukem Forever but it's the real #1 answer. Period. Even if we got it eventually, it's the GOAT of these.

OK but the difference is that FF15 was explicitly billed as being the same game as Versus XIII, just with a name change. Yes, there were significant differences from early trailers, but those aren't uncommon either.
