I actually figured out how mushroom pulling is supposed to work the second time around. The game does not properly convey what they want from you.

You partially pull the stick and see which one reaches the edge first, because most of them do in fact go all the way to the same "edge".

Like I vastly prefer this method of storytelling as opposed to FFXIII just putting all the extra info into a Datalog to read.

A lot of stories feel amazing when you put them next to FFXIII.

Really the suddenness of PS1 FFs late game plot points is probably less about actual artistic direction and more about time and/or money. FF8 just comes off a bit weirder for it.

The absurdity of space in FF8 in no way has to do with it being impractical technologically. But if someone rings my doorbell right now and tells me it's time to go to space, I'll be a bit taken aback to say the least.

FFIV does the same thing!

Not exactly. The Giant of Babil comes from the moon before that happens. Plus the actual crux of the plot comes from the Lunarians.

Final Fantasy X-2.5 ~Eien no Daish~Edit

Tidus and Yuna end up shipwrecked on an unknown island that resembles Besaid and Tidus theorizes they have traveled back in time a thousand years. Tidus is killed in a freak accident when he mistakes an ancient bomb of Bevelle make for a blitzball. Yuna faints from the shock, and unknowingly beckons Tidus back into the world with him none the wiser of what happened.

Most people say the Junction system is bad because they're bad at it. Sorry I didn't realize you're one of the people who doesn't enjoy being good at it!

I mean no one's bad at using it. They're "bad" at setting it up, but all being "good" does is save time. I put those in quotes because it's knowledge not skill dependent.

Draw system and being fooled into thinking drawing is the best way to get stock of spells is the bad part

You say that like it doesn't count. Or that the alternative is a significant improvement once you can draw 9 spells at once.

But none of that is even what I meant. Saying "git gud" to the most busted system they ever made is the delusional part.

Paine replacing Lulu isn't that crazy because Lulu would have never gone along with half the shit they do.

Did they say Lightning time travelled? I was under the impression they were trying the "digital actress" thing again. Either way it's the clear winner.

The director said some dumb shit, but none of that warrants death threats. The statement I made earlier about the reaction was not intended to be hyperbole.

And I'm not being hyperbolic when I say he was trying to capitalize on a very xenophobic "Japanese game devs are inferior" attitude especially prevalent at the time to bring in new fans. So don't ask me to empathize with someone getting lowest common denominator in return for starting there.

Edit: And yeah I know I said "no reason" before. I should have said "no good reason".

Multiclassing spellcasting classes is a lot easier when the classes can use the same casting stat. If they don't, you have to worry about the stat for each class if you're using the spell from. Wizard being the only INT primary spellcaster makes them awkward to deal with in this way.

It's going to be (or already is?) $42K a month MINIMUM for companies to access the API.

It's saying when it'll be announced, not when it'll come out. Furthermore, it excludes the June direct from being that time, which in turn means they won't want to overshadow those games announced then.

I don't get why he did this, but it's not hard to follow, other than knowing when their fiscal year ends.

This part is crucial. Generally the only time you want odd stats is when you know you'll have a bonus that makes them even. And as you won't know that in advance, you can just respec whenever it is relevant.

As part of that announcement itself:

With this consolidation of our Bethesda studio teams, so that we can invest more deeply in our portfolio of games and new IP, a small number of roles across select Bethesda publishing and corporate teams will also be eliminated.
