Been a few years since I played, so not every situation is fresh in my mind, but I remember most of the ghost encounters being outdoors. Early on, they appear as you're riding your bike down the road and can pull you out and drag you 500 feet away -- pretty annoying. I think those locations are generally fixed, though, and you can bypass many of those annoyances with a zipline network.
