Let's think about it another way. I don't think most people would be okay if you decided to turn your a portion of your property into a mechanic shop doing work at all hours of the day and night. Which would also mean you have a bunch of non-working vehicle parked around.A mechanic shop is entirely reasonable thing to have in a residential area. Though you should have actual hours and not be working on stuff at random times.
Or another one: No one will be okay if you let your property get overgrown. This is dangerous in places like Texas because that invites rattlesnakes which will push rodents into other properties.

The problem is the exploitation of tenancy laws that shouldn't apply to people who weren't entitled to use the property at any discretion beyond the owner's.
If the owner wants someone out of property there should only be one civil request required before the police have immediate and full jurisdiction to force vacancy. I'd say 72 hours max to voluntarily vacate who would fit the definition of "squatting" (so anyone occupying outside of a mutual and permitted agreement with the property owner).
And all rental agreements need to be written. I'm not sure how fair it is towards people paying rent off the books but, quite frankly, they should demand the property owner sign a rental agreement for their own defense. If they fail to do that then it's on them if the 72 hours kicks in.
