So much fun playing those
Ive made this comment in various threads both here and among my other Gen X friends. When I look at many shows I grew up on and like 90% of the main cast is gone. Im not even talking like crazy old stuff that was a rerun when I was a kid. I mean stuff that was current when I was a kid. Stuff like LaVerne and Shirley and Threes Company and stuff like that. The real mind fuck is that in many cases a lit of these people really werent that old then. Like sometimes late 20s to mid 30s yet so many of them are gone.I think about that stuff too, but on the flip side its always a pleasant surprise when you discover that one cast or crew member who is not only still alive but is still putting in work.
Its a stark reminder that for myself, and you (sorry to be a downer) we really arent *that* far from possibly being gone ourselves. Now when I get into the even older shows that were from the 50s and 60s and were played a lot as reruns in the 80s thats when stuff starts to get really depressing. I mean mid to late 60s stuff is already pretty grim but when I dip into the late 50s westerns its bad.
Like Ill watch reruns of Cheyenne from the late 50s and you realize the director, the actors, the music, the wardrobe people, like every person involved is gone. Occasionally when googling the Main cast of an episode I might run across 1 person who was in their early to mid 20s in the late 50s and is still around in their 90s but its pretty rare. Anyone middle aged or older you KNOW are gone and its fun to see someone who is clearly elderly and see they were born in the 1800s.
Clint Walker who played Cheyenne just passed about 7 years ago and he was 90 then. When I watch Bonanza everyone is gone. Its sobering. As someone who is a tv junkie/movie junkie and likes stats and numbers and stuff its something I actually think about a lot. Its like seeing a photo of NYC or something in the gilded age and realizing literally every person involved in the photo is gone.
This isnt exactly about age but either you bring the same age its kind of crazy thinking back to how much tv we watched as kids that was still black and white. Its not that shows in the 80s were being made like that but the reruns from so many of those mid to late 60s shows were in that crossover period. I dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, Andy Griffith, Gomer Pyle, Gilligans Island, Hogans Heroes, and so many more. Plus the ones that were always in black and white like Munsters Addams family older shows like Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best, the list goes on.
Id say over half the tv I watched was black and white. What I listed was just a little bit of it. Anyway Im babbling on. But trust me this topic title speaks to me and its something I ponder OFTEN.
I genuinely liked it through the first 3 seasons, then the 4th started to become a little too much for me and it gets progressively worse from there.Me too, I really enjoyed 1-3 but then it fell off so hard. Season 4 was a disappointment, I stopped watching it weekly early in 5, I dont even remember 6, and never bothered with 7.
No, and they also shouldn't be on aeroplanes. Wait until it's older before travelling with it if you can't stop it from crying.Ha! Get real. Families need to travel too. Babies cry, thats what they do. It happens. Now Im not planning on flying with my baby until shes at least 2, because the thought of my kid crying on a plane stresses me out. But other peoples babies crying during the flight never bothered me. Noise cancelling headphones are cheap and Id never fly without them.
I dare tc to say no to theseBirrias are what got me to switch over to corn tortillas. My spouse makes them often, and they are so damn good.
