Bending always existing doesn't make it right. Thats the same as people saying "well we've always done it this way" in response to things

I had this long speech written but I realized I could simplify it by saying this: there's a reason 5 benders sit on the council for republic city and why all it's officers of the law are benders. Imagine a world where only white people could be politicians and cops. Don't you think everyone else would be a lite bit upset?

I'm wiling to say bending causes more harm than the harm it fixes. The sheer separation it drives through benders and non benders is terrible.

Do we know all the members of the council are benders? I thought we only knew that they represented their respective tribe or nation.

We have no idea if the other three are benders. The fact that they never object to Tarrlok's anti-nonbender intiatives suggests they probably are, but it is possible that they are being bribed/threatened/blackmailed by Tarrlok. We know Sokka was a representative though and he was not a bender.

As for the "genetics" of bending, I believe the creators have said that it's part genetic, but also part spiritual. Anyone has the capability to be a bender but some would have to work harder to achieve their goal. They also said that if bending hasn't developed by teenage years, you probably will never have it.

It's a good game but there are better indies, including everything listed in this topic besides LIMBO

The drunk thing is a godawful analogy. Bending isn't some "temporary" thing you choose to have the ability to do. It's just an ability people have. Using bending for positive purposes doesn't intrinsically have a negative side effect like drinking does either. They have to choose to use it for evil.

Is the fire lord burning everything because he's a bender, or because he's a madman? Amon seems to be pretty capable of terrorism without bending. Get rid of bending and people will still commit evil.

Also, "magic genie"? Do you mean the Avatar or just the ability to bend? Either way I don't see how that can even apply.
