Seriously, the youtube video was a dead link at this point to begin with, what the hell is wrong with this site?

I had typed this up before the topic was deleted so I'm responding to your post here

do you have an irrational hate for Nintendo?

I consider them to be maybe the most important developer in the industry actually. But the Zelda series hasn't produced a real GotY contender in a decade IMO, and aside from the brilliant visual style the main thing I'm seeing with Skyward Sword is that it has borrowed a lot of controls from Wii Sports Resort, which is a downgrade from Twilight Princess.

Xenoblade is out of consideration to begin with in my mind. I'll import it and play it, but GotY refers to year of release and it's not being released. It might be European or South African game of the year, but I can't give it that title out of principle.

unless you only play WRPGs. which is also crazy.

This just seems to be the most impressive title coming out by far. The level of detail looks insane, I love games that have worlds you can really get lost in and do a ton of things with. That's why Xenoblade looked so much more appealing to me than the standard JRPG, it's a big wide open world with a lot of optional quests.

This is a terrible idea. If anything. We need Sega to start making consoles again. Yeah, it would be easier on developers, but this is how monopolies develop.

Valve has a monopoly

Nintendo had a monopoly in the 80s and early 90s

That's always confused me btw in regard to PC gaming, why are PC's so much more backwards compatible than gaming consoles? I can still play games from 10-15 years ago on my PC, but I can't play a GameCube game on the Wii U which is much more powerful in every spec? What is it about game consoles that makes standard system requirements irrelevant?

It would be for the best, the console market is stupid and redundant. If you buy every console and a PC once a generation, you basically buying 4 computers. PC gaming taking over completely or console standardization needs to occur.

Super Mario World and The Wind Waker kinda felt rushed, but they're still among my all-time favorites regardless.

And Brawl would be better than Melee if it weren't SO DARN SLUGGISH IN COMPARISON.

Brawl has problems that go way beyond just being slower, though that does make the game a lot less fun.

No good games are rushed.

Majora's Mask was made in a little over a year. Comparatively, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess each took over 3 years.

Super Smash Bros Melee was also extremely rushed while Brawl was a longer, more "refined" effort. We all know what happened with that...

Nintendo would be better off if it stopped trying to excessively refine things, they're actually downgrading their games with that extra time spent.

It's only genius if they intended that effect from the start. But it's true, I hadn't really heard about Xenoblade at all before people got all angry at it. I'd heard about it but the fact that it had Xeno in its name meant that I pretty much instantly wrote it off as probably terrible, I had no idea it was so different in concept from Xenosaga.

It's the same pool of wealthy people that are also demanding larger and larger bonuses every year while their employees wages aren't keeping up with inflation and rising costs of living. It's their own fault their greed blew up in their faces. Kind of anyway, Obama was right there to bail them out so in reality they have learned nothing.

That's funny because Activi$ion Blizzard swore up and down that the multiplayer was a completed product and wouldn't change between episodes. And people will still ardently defend them even as they're being exploited and lied to like this, the mindset of a fanboy is a truly hilarious thing.

But when I see a topic bashing Nintendo I read it,and that UltimaterializerX is usually the star of the party for some reason

Ulti gets most of the attention in pretty much any topic he posts in, this board is obsessed with him.

He's wrong about Wind Waker though, if I had to pinpoint a key moment where Nintendo changed in the past 10 years, it would be the release and success of the DS. That is what taught them that having "fun" new interface gimmicks and marketing is more profitable than developing great games. It's what turned them into something of an Apple clone. They've shown they still have the ability to make good games and do from time to time, they just don't have the drive to do it as frequently because it's not what really makes them money now.

No one buys SC for the campaign, you're sad if you honestly think that's worth $180. $360 by the time the expansion packs come out and are also split up. Bobby Kotick is going to drive everything that was good about Blizzard into the ground just like Guitar Hero.

I really wish I knew what Nintendo was thinking, I don't think it's even a financial thing. Are they afraid that JRPG's have a reputation for being nerdy games and it might ruin their image with their casual market or something if they release it? It sounds absurd but there is no logical explanation for their actions to begin with, you have to start combing through absurdities to try and figure them out.

Wind Waker was a good game. It's just disappointing how Nintendo literally started Operation Moonfall to distract people from Rainfall when they probably intended to remake Majora's Mask all along. Now when they make it they can be all like "-See-, we do listen to our fans!" while completely dodging the fact that apparently Mystery Case Files was a bigger priority for NoA than Xenoblade or Last Story.
