one action is the limitations held by the red cross and other groups who draw blood, actions that cover a variety of reasons and all under the pretense of safety to those who would receive it. in other words, a safety concern to the third party who would receive the blood, a real, tangible risk of unquestionable harm that's both physical and mental to not just the patient, but to society as a whole as if we can't trust the blood we can't offer transfusions with confidence. for these reasons there are limitations which also include people coming from certain countries, not to suggest that everyone who goes to them has HIV, but that there is a notably higher risk and correlation between that country and the number of people with HIV or other diseases. thus, they limit that. a different limitation involves a group of people who commit an action that carries a high risk of HIV, and to complete the correlation said group has a notably higher count of HIV people in it, tying the two together. thus, they limit it.

that is the same as defending an action that two consenting adults make that does not harm anyone. arguments of society can be made from both sides due to a difference of opinion, not a matter of a failure to an institution (though some like to make the argument, it's failed enough that no reasonable standard would agree with it) but the two individual parties do not directly involve anyone else save for a legal official to complete a contract (marriage).


those two actions, an individual putting a third party at harm and could cause an enormous problem in our medicine-driven society vs. two consenting adults committing a legally binding contract that does not harm anyone, are enough of the same that the defense of one is the same as the argument against the other. so for all intents and purposes, they are "the same."

fact is, the former's a matter of old wording from an older time. back when HIV/AIDS broke out people were scared. a new and unknown virus that's deadly and passes through blood. sexual contact, especially anal sex, proved higher risks than normal and the gay community got a rap for it. so instead of trying to be sensitive or politically correct, places who receive blood simply banned the large group to fix the problem. which is 100% the right call to make because the most important thing is that those who receive blood are safe. now, things have changed. we know more about HIV/AIDS. the gay community has become bigger and more responsive, though the rates are still notably higher than in the general populace. should there be some changes to policy? sure, but only in a way that meets the necessary level to assure the safety of those who receive blood. you argue science with science, not politics.

sega pack there is a ridiculous deal that is well worth 12.50.
however...

the individual components will not be at the 78% sale, but 50%. to that end, steam will be better if you're after that as they have done it before. Classics Series 4 is easily the best one of the list (5th, the newest, is 2nd best) and was for under $2 last year.

but if you don't have any of the games OR Renegade OPs OR Sonic CD, jump on it. hell, even if you got 1 of 'em, still think about jumping on it. me? i've got 2. and i don't need any but packs Renegade, 4, and 5 as i'm convinced Sega's holding back for a Sonic collection (CD is good stuff though) and i've got the first 2.

tragic i think is the bittersweet option, hence the 'nobody wins.' the good guy loses a lot to get his win, the bad guy 'was right' or something like that. for games i don't think you can get a better example of this than Nier's true end. that thing sounds like it takes bittersweet to its most extreme level.

it's a fair argument, however digital downloads have been so successful - even without being wildly cheaper - that the theory has a hole in it. resale value does exist, that's true, and some people can game the system to make profit even. yet a lot of the *resale* market ALSO works with new games and is not to be confused with the used one. also judging by the amount that money that trade ins will usually go for, it's actually not the money one can get on the flip value which is examined necessarily, but something that gets offered in conjunction to other offers at random. people want to get rid of their games somehow to clear up space and not have a large collection most likely, but they don't want to throw it out. that though also doesn't care about the resale value so much as that's just an ends to a means, not the reason they bought it at the amount they bought it at.

so yeah, there's a number of holes in it.

D3 isn't the best example i'd use there. D3 actually offers real, tangible ways to make money. some DRM boycotts have been pretty notable - especially with EA's games - but you'll often see them tied to piracy directly (see: Spore).

well yeah, i'm just pointing out where the logic falls for that kind of thinking. the used game vs. pirated game argument at least is one with some merits to it (e.g., if you buy used you won't be buying new and they won't get your money, but if you pirate it, you might buy it too and then they would) and i can understand that one. boycott, not so much.

the idea was initially gonna be (said this somewhere in the 1st topic) that characters could pick something like 3 terrains they like, 3 terrains they don't. if there's 2 taht are liked, that'd be it. if there's 2 that aren't, it's out of randomizer. if there's no connection, random.

but yeah. if that's not workin' that's cool too. full randomizer's an option at least (and RST Arena would be hilarious). it just seemed like the right way to avoid a crappy terrain + avoid an overly biased terrain.
