8. Garcian's Revelation

If you saw all the Killer7 entries before, then you probably saw this one coming. You spent the entire game going to different locations across the globe encountering bizarre people, creatures, objects, and situations with only a loose direction: Defeat the Heaven Smiles.

One of the last locations, a school in Seattle, was where things took a (more) interesting turn. It was a front for a child assassin training ground led by Harman Smith. Information found here led to Garcian heading towards a hotel in Philadelphia.

Looking back, there were little hints about what was going to be revealed later on, but given the sheer complexity of the situation, is was hard to have a clear enough mind for the player was in store for at the hotel near the very end of the game.

While going through the various floors in the hotel, you see how each and every fellow Killer7 assassin met their end decades ago. The only people unaccounted for are Garcian and Harman.

Garcian finds Harman in a room near the top floor. Harman reveals that Garcian was the prodigy of the child assassination program, Emir Parkreiner. Emir killed all the other Killer7 personas while they were still alive in the hotel on an assignment. Emir shot and killed Harman without realizing it and committed once he did.

The entire Killer7 organization is a reincarnation of Emir but it's Garcian who resembles him. He finds this out when he sees a disoriented Emir on the roof. Emir reveals his third eye and Garcian pulls out his gun and shoots him there.

Emir drops to the ground and dies. Shortly after that, Garcian falls to his knees and screams in agony as the truth that he has recently learned overwhelms him, showing his transformation as person.


(I would be upset too if I realized I used to look like that as a kid)

9. "Monkey Business"

Yeah, I know that the term "monkey business" probably died out in the '90s, but it was during that decade when I named what I am about to explain.

Reverse snowboarding in Snowboard Kids isn't even my favorite alternative way to race in a racing game. That belongs to trying to manipulate a constant in Super Mario Kart.

In SMK, depending on which character you choose, the cup that you race in will have a predetermined finishing order among the NPCs. However they line up at the beginning of the first race is how they will finish. The same goes for all subsequent races in the cup.

What I do is I try to mess around that order as much as possible. The crowning achievement is to try and get a complete reverse order This is very difficult to pull off given the low frequency of getting an item, the small odds of getting an item that will become useful in the plight, the fact that you have to finish in the Top 4 in a race, and several other factors that aren't in your favor.

Though I have only accomplished that once in all of my attempts, it was an incredible feeling to pull off something of that difficulty. Even if I fail in going all the way, it's still fun messing with something that Nintendo tried to make steady.

Well, the whole trophy business eliminated any chance of me doing that. Was that part of the game that this was based off of, the fact that the trophies represented the roles of the players?

I suspected Maria only because I always have suspicions of people who are so adamant about people role claiming, nothing with any true weight to it. In this and the two games of mafia, I was town in both, that I have played, I was always the last one to claim a role.

I think that once the movement for role claiming begins, that overtakes the game and it just becomes a quest of seeing who is lying and who is telling the truth about their role. To me, that sucks the fun out of everything. I would think that it's far more fun to try and guess what kinds of roles other people have while working towards the goal simultaneously.

Did everyone know that cyanide is not actually odorless though? Haguile didn't reveal that to me since he felt it was common knowledge and so many people jumped on me once shados revealed that I smelled of almonds

Like I said, most of what I said was actually true. I did come up with a contraption that would have put a nail right in the skull of someone who opened a stall door in the bathroom. When I only got a handful of what I was looking for in the storage room, that's when I decided to use my cyanide. I was going to use the restrooms as the locations where cyanide would be placed, but I didn't think that either one had much traffic. I only switched to the kitchen because of that.

Also, I intended to fight the lion because with my nails, I could use them as "claws" and be on equal grounds with the lion. I could kill anyone or anything as long as I had equal or greater weapons. The lion had claws and now I did. Unfortunately, I was not informed of this collaborative effort to killing lion.

And to be accurate, I was never executed for being the culprit behind Biscuit's murder for two reasons:

1. I never voted on Ryoko's murder. That was officially the second of the three murders that we were supposed to vote on. The "showdown" was done last because it was the only one with some uncertainty among the players. Since I never placed a vote on it, I was killed for having a second strike.

2. The same for #1 applies here. I never voted for my own murder, so I would have died for not placing a vote before being executed.

So to implement that, I said that I came in as Steve Rogers and not Captain America. This allowed me to give me an excuse to not have a shield and also to keep my alter ego a secret. Yes, even I know that Captain America's identity isn't all that much a secret, but I was hoping that people would understand the circumstances of the game to know that it would make sense to let that slide. Plus, it isn't like I am wearing a name tag or that every random citizen knows exactly what Steve Rogers looks like.

We are trapped in school and the only way to leave alive is to kill and get away with it or be one of the last three remaining. By people knowing that I am Captain America, I would become a huge target for multiple reasons. It would be easier to manipulate a crime to pin it on me and people may confide in one another to gang up on me.

Using the knowledge that there was a spy, as I said earlier I thought there were two, and a reporter, I felt that I could use that to my advantage as a means to provide a threat to uncovering my identity and the consequences of that. Since I also flubbed on the trophy thing, due to KP taking my trophy earlier, I used that in my writeup as a "precaution to keep my identity a secret."

I checked the PM I got and tried to word in a way that sounded like Haguile and fit the character constraint of PMs, plus allowed me to make a short statement beforehand, and I had a finished product.

This is what I came up with as possible things to include:
- I began with shield
- I did not begin with shield, but could essentially use anything as an effective shield
- Use the "someone like him" thing with a trust/despair twist
- Force me to choose between strength or speed
- Have a penalty for killing and receive a benefit for stopping a fight/murder or just preventing a crime in general
- Incentive to keep my identity a secret

I really liked the trust one since it didn't seem as if any role included it and Haguile seemed to endorse the trust thing before the game began.

The penalty/benefit for crimes was the first one ousted since I sat there as I watched Spiral and Biscuit fight. I thought they and maybe Solfadore noticed that I was there. Also, saying that I couldn't commit a crime seemed like a common excuse for someone to use when they could end up being the prime suspect for a murder, which was the case.

The shield would have been a tricky one to explain since it would be pretty stupid of me to not have it on me at all times, in most circumstances anyway.

I really liked the choice between super speed and super strength and I thought it added some authenticity to the mix.

Not beginning with the shield and keeping my identity a secret seemed like a good combination. However, I was really keen on the trust and choice of strength/speed that I had to gamble and not deal with the shield. I really like the identity secrecy though because I thought it added risk that was necessary for my seemingly powerful role.

When I decided to come up with a false role, I was originally came up with Super...Pool Boy and actually had some neat features to it. Then I saw that Maria exposed the list of roles and due to a misinterpretation, I thought that there was a spy and super spy. I eliminated going with the spy and saw that I could either take Avenger, psychic, or zombie since Tom was in doubt.

I had already made an indirect comment about the zombie not too long before, so I couldn't fake claim that. I felt that the psychic would have been hard to pull off, so I went with the Avenger. Harvey Comics are the only comic publisher that I read a lot before, so I wasn't too familiar with DC or Marvel, so I had to do some research.

I originally settled on Black Panther and was going to use something about detecting hostile beasts as well as some as acute hearing. I know that I couldn't outright say lions or anything since it wasn't confirmed until after the initial PMs were out.

Then, I moved to Protector. I didn't know how the vents worked but if we couldn't navigate them, I assumed that there had to be some high, vertical walls or something. So I was going to have my character be able to climb up vents. Then I realized that wouldn't help me out at all.

Captain America was the last that I felt was viable after a quick look. He had plenty of things going for him, too many in fact. I had to pick and choose which ones to use because I had to construct a message that was short enough to fit in one PM. If I were too make it too long or seem to be too powerful, I know that it wouldn't fool anybody. I settled on four areas to consider:
- The Shield
- Fact that "someone like him" was also in the game (ambiguous on purpose since it would cover people with superhuman capabilities and those with alter-egos)
- Super Strength
- Super Speed
- Is a super hero
