The online is a nice touch, but certainly not the main selling point of the game.

In fact, at times I found it more intrusive than anything. The online is fairly weak compared to most modern games.

Also, is this counting church donations? Because conservative Americans being more likely to go to church might explain most of the discrepancy there.

If I had to guess, the source that he will name will ultimately lead back to a Catalogue For Philanthropy data set that lists states by their charitable givings. I did a cursory google search, because I was actually curious, and most of my results were some conservative blog citing a map showing the distribution of donations by state, which in turn cited this data set. It shows the highest "giving index" or whatever the hell they call it is almost exclusively in the red states. Average income per person vs. average charitable donation per person. States like Wyoming, Alabama performed extraordinarily well (avg. income in WY is 47K while the average amount donated is 9K in 2000). Thus, "red states are more generous than blue states" became "conservatives are more generous than liberals" became "liberals don't believe in charity unless it is mandated by the states" in conservative talking points.

It is an interesting data set to go through, but I doubt that church donations have much to do with it. According to the IRS website (which this data is collected from, although I can't quite see how as they are not explicit in their methods), the majority of revenue from donations comes from corporations. What I would assume this is measuring is not an effect of "red states are more generous with their money than blue states", but rather "these states have a higher ratio of corporations to people than others." Lots of corporate HQs in Wyoming, but a low population density. Which is why it looks like a whole fifth of every persons income is going to charity.

There are a couple of other surveys I found, which sought to normalize donations by income, and then compare the amounts of republicans and democrats where republicans donated slightly more, but I didn't feel like digging through those data sets to find out if anything was screwy.

Apollo Justice is a good answer because it actually ruins the character established in the first three games.

The best example I can think of though is Lunar: DS. It actively ruins the main focus of the story in the first game. Before playing that game, I never thought it was possible to ruin my memory of other games in the series simply by existing, but the story in it sort of undid how I felt about the story in the first game.

Still love the first two Lunar games though.

But yeah, I would've drafted completely different if it was a keeper league, but I was just throwing things out for how we could switch it up for next year. This year has taught me it is better to resolve these sort of things when:

1) People are actually around
and
2) Preferably far in advance

So I just thought I'd ask now.

We could also do a dynasty league (with hockey/basketball and baseball being the other two sports), but I thought that might be hard to organize, because I'm not sure if everyone here is into other sports all that much.

Just out of curiosity, does everyone like the whole new draft every year? Or would people prefer if I made it a keeper league with maybe 2 keepers per year? I sort of like resetting things every year, but if we are going to keep this going for a while, I know some people prefer keepers to sort of make the league more cohesive from year to year.
