I'm not surprised that Trump wants to jail and/or murder his political opponents, but involving El Salvador is just baffling. It's not a large enough country to hold many people alive, but sending people there just to kill them would just slow the whole operation down. It's already clear that it won't work as a legal loophole or hide what he's doing. Why go through all the extra work when he could just do all that stuff here?

Indoor air pollution. Turns out having a fire indoors with no ventilation might not be a good idea. Or maybe it's not too bad, there haven't been that many studies yet. Also, there's the whole natural gas = CO2 emissions = climate change thing.

People would definitely be willing to work in factories if/when this whole tariff situation drives unemployment to record levels. Unpleasant low-wage jobs are still better than staving to death in the streets, after all. The bigger problems are (a) nobody's going to start building factories because they'd be out a fortune if things ever go back to normal and (b) modern factories don't need that many employees anyway.

Someday soon, companies will "interview" candidates by having them do a full day of unpaid work. Getting hired will take dozens (if not hundreds) of "interviews" held on consecutive business days. Is there any polling on AOC in a presidential primary? I have this paranoid thought that the Dems are hyping AOC for Senate to keep her out of the presidential race.

Technically they could ship the consoles to a third country and import them to the US from there. It looks like the government didn't think about that loophole. But unless that third country is Russia, the tariffs alone should add about $50 to the price even without considering the extra shipping costs. But that might still be cheaper considering all countries with Nintendo factories are on the high end of the tariff increases.

Yep, those are the only two things of value in the entire world. US dollars and crypto. Kind of weird that nobody has ever thought of any other stores of value or things to invest in, but hey.

Maybe the plan is to turn the US into a large-scale version of those tiny Caribbean islands whose entire economy is based on shady financial transactions that are illegal anywhere else.

OK, we already are that to some extent. But we could do it more, maybe even destroy the rest of the economy to increase the relative power of the finance industry. If this was the plan it would explain a lot.

See, the fact that everybody loses that war makes me think the rest of the world might go for appeasement. Losing potentially all of civilization is kind of a high price to stop a rogue USA. Probably better for most countries to just give up on the Americas if it comes to that.

Trump is serious about conquering Greenland and Canada, but nobody else in the administration wants that and Trump himself is too incompetent to overrule them. The real concern is that Trump pushing for it so hard will lead to it becoming the mainstream view on the right, eventually leading to a administration (either a future president or Trump's after several rounds of firing/resignations) that will start those wars.

Why is this something people need to learn? Drive when you are driving. Internet can wait. It's not complicated.

I don't watch much TV, but the HIMYM finale is the only episode I can think of that ruined an entire show for me.

But that's a boring answer, so I'll go with the Hydra vs HUGE episode of BattleBots instead. Most boring fight they aired in the reboot, and then they tried to make it interesting by playing up how controversial it was and just pissed off the entire fanbase. I doubt many people here saw it, but it was just stupid.
