You know next to nothing for most of the characters. Then you have that black hole sized gap in story when they go to Archades on foot. That like 3-5 hours without a story cutscene? Always thought that was weird. Its a shame cause the background story and setting IS PRETTY COOL.

One of my favorite FFs. It's very fun to play with Gambits off for your controlled character and Gambits on for your party. And even with Gambits on, I never understood the complaints about the game playing itself as I consider setting the Gambits to be part of the gameplay, plus one Gambit setup doesn't necessarily work or isn't optimal for every enemy. You can also manually give commands that override your set Gambits as well

This. It's quite fun setting up gambits and watching them act out on very specific moments. Its like designing football plays and watching them work.

Hm... it's good, but I kinda feel almost all JRPG standard battle themes are dragged down by how often you hear them; and not only is FFX not an exception, it may even be one of the worst offenders here (I say this as someone who considers FFX to be my favorite JRPG and possibly my favorite video game full stop). I really like what Grandia did, by at least having the battle theme change on disc 2, as well as change when you're ambushed (and both variants of the Disc 2 battle theme are utterly incredible, but especially the ambush one).

IDK. I find FFX's bombastic staccato battle theme is perfect for repeated listenings. You also come across many boss battles throughout the game so youre not stuck with it for long. But I am a fan of having different battle themes according to what part of the game youre at. Like Tales of Symphonia, Skies of Arcadia and the like

As for worst offender that would be Xenosaga.

Its aggressively mid amd safe, but its well done for the most part. It closes out pretty strong too. The worst you can say about it issome slightly excessive humor for the kids...which shouldnt matter that much since its a kid movie and that the songs are nowhere near as good, though not as bad as Wish's.

Also is it me or do characters lingered too much on each area/part of the movie. Felt a bit more stage like in that regard. Its literally thr island, sea, clam and final fight. Seems like a way to make it on the cheap.

Yeah Tropical Freeze is excellent, but a bit overly complicates with the impossible to find collectibles on each stage. Also the physics are different. TF is a bit floaty and doesnt control as tight as Country.

This is literally the case. The only really great game was the OG. 2 and 3 just happened to have some interesting stories with some good writing sprinkled here and there. Remove the good writing and you have a game thats aimed at everybody, but nobody likes.
