No IVF lab is trying to do this with one single shot, using only one embryo. They're going to collect multiple eggs, and fertilize them all, even if the couple can only afford one. That way, the couple can decide some time after, whether they wanna implant the remaining embryos.

and i'm assuming they take several cause not all embryos will be viable, and that way they have backups
