Sounds like a selection bias. It should be more accurately titled "10 year low for female representation in successful films". Just because a film isn't in the top 100 doesn't mean it wasn't made, it means it wasn't financially successful.

Considering the scope of retrofit would more or less necessitate this, yeah. But what would actually happen in that scenario is the construction of million dollar condos that won't house the people that need housing.

If there wasn't a demand, people wouldn't be building them.

About the only way to get 100% affordable housing built would be to have the local equivalents to the NYC Housing Authority build the housing itself. The problem with that is the NYCHA is notorious as being the worst slumlord in the city and takes on average 8 months to turn over an apartment from one person moving out to the next moving in.

The amount of office space that can practically and legally be turned into housing is trivial compared to the problem. The few buildings that can be converted take years of extensive reconstruction to convert.

The biggest problem is daylight. Every building code in the country requires bedrooms to have at least one window for natural light and many require the same for other parts of the apartment. To use the Empire State Building as an example and a generous 40 feet as the practical depth of an apartment, only a bit less than half of the floor space along the outside walls could be used for housing. That's why buildings designed for residential use are narrower than commercial office space: they simply need a larger surface to volume ratio.

Fun fact, Costco used to only accept Mastercard until the early 2010's.

For a number of years the State of Illinois didn't accept Visa due to some sort of contract dispute and a vendetta by the Secretary of State. Found out the hard way while trying to renew my plates.

He lost his appeal, so he's going to do 150 days in Cook County Jail. and 30 months of probation. After that he'll probably be asking people if they'd like fries with that.

I remember a similar story with a DC intern commuting to North Caroline(?) from a couple years ago.

I've tried unchopped chips before and they don't melt properly. They have too low a ratio of surface area to mass. You can leave it all day and you'll still have a chocolate sludge at the bottom because the milk cools faster than the chocolate can melt. Supposing this is some sort of porous chocolate that avoids the issue, they may be worth trying.

The other alternative is to actually heat the milk with the chocolate in it, but this is much harder unless you're ok with it boiling, which honestly ruins it.

You can buy pre-shredded chocolate, or even mini chocolate chips.

Depends on your definition of "my area" and the size of the nuke.

My store's record is a 97 hour week from a non-salaried manager, although that was at peak Covid panic buying.

The actual store manager from that time later worked 17 consecutive days 12-ish hours per day before having a massive heart attack and dying in surgery.

Closest I came was posting here, so no.

I remember a time where when something like that happened a few guys would push the obstruction to somewhere less disruptive while waiting for a tow. Now people just don't want to get involved and it's hard to blame them for that.

Been struck by lightning in a car. Also once was next to a window and "saw" a tree get struck just outside. Quotes because all I "saw" in either case was a brilliant white light that consumed my vision.

I've been outside in a parking lot when one of the light poles got hit. Later the same night the store itself got hit and nifty blue sparks shot up and down the rails to all the loading dock doors.

Delivery people here don't wait for you to answer the door. They set it on your doorstep, knock, and are gone before you even open the door. I lost track of the number of times I've left for work having to step over hours-old delivery I wasn't even awake for, to the point I put a sign on my door to recheck the address before delivery.

Again, Kessler syndrome. The debris from taking out one satellite is almost certain to take out others that weren't intended as targets - possibly months or years after the first satellite was destroyed.

About 60% of the satellites in orbit are ours, so most of the collateral damage would likely be to our satellites.

Kessler syndrome. We technically can shoot down damn near anything they put up but the cure could be worse than the disease.
