With a few stipulations of course. You cannot tell anyone what youre doing before or during the challenge so that you cant have someone just take care of you for the duration of the challenge. You cannot stay within your own home. In fact, upon accepting the challenge you will be magically transported somewhere outdoors, within 10 miles of your home. Only your clothing and shoes will shrink down with you. Anything like a watch or cellphone will remain normal size and likely crush and kill you upon shrinking. Should you survive the magical being will teleport you back home and then grant you 3 wishes. Normal wish rules apply like no wishing for more wishes and what not. Well in my case (since I have two of those listed lol) its mostly because I figure Im one of the older people on the board at 44yrs old so my thinking was majority of posters probably came after the NES era and I was betting many didnt go back to see what they missed. So I have a close friend who is in the Marine Reserves currently. Hes never been deployed or anything like that. Either way, we were having a discussion because he feels his girlfriend insulted him the other day by saying she has respect for him choosing to serve, but that she has more respect for and holds military members who have seen combat in a higher regard than guys like him. He then got upset with me because I tended to agree with her point of view to an extent. He argued that there is no difference between himself (or any non combat vet) and a vet who has seen combat. He went on to say how they go through the exact same training and all of that. That theyre both prepared for combat the same way. I argued that while all of that is true, if I were going into a hostile situation and had to choose between him and another service member who has been in a live combat situation, I would chose that guy over him. He said I was stupid because they both have the same amount of training. I made the (probably poor) comparison that well, Tom Brady and his backup QB went through the same practice every day, but if I had to choose one to go out and win a game for me Im gonna choose Brady being that Ive seen him win many games. Essentially my argument was that experience matters and that the combat vet has experience that my friend cannot truly replicate through training. I still have plenty of respect for him. I just have a tiny bit more for the guys who really were in a life or death situation. Idk perhaps the opinion his girlfriend and I share is off base. --- A Medicore Time with Tom & Dan BDM 4 Life |
