Those are known as Arena shooters. "Boomer" use to be called "Classic" or "Retro" shooters, but I guess times change. TOXIKK, UT Alpha, Quake Champions, Splitgate, Lawbreakers; unfortunately it's dead a genre. I think the difference is that boomer shooters are generally single-player affairs akin to Doom or Quake, whereas arena shooters are multiplayer-focuses ones akin to Quake 3 or Unreal Tournament. --- Hello |

Box you now need two boxes under your TV to play new games plus the games you already had. Sticking with one is just easier, more convenient, etc. for most people, and this is the main reason Sony continues to clobber MS ever since the XB1 launch debacle. LOL how does that changed the fact that most of the complaints about XB1 DRM were rectified at launch? If people can't do research and only buy what the media tells them is good then it's their problem. Ironically the Xbox One ended up being the most consumer friendly due to the reintroduction of backwards compatibility allowing you to play games from back on the original Xbox, and didn't block mods and crossplay unlike the PS4, which also tried to resell PS3 games as "HD collections".
