Fandom used to have a competitor called Gamepedia, but unfortunately Fandom bought the company and merged the wikis.

Nowadays I just use Fandom by default, albeit with an adblocker, since it still has the most complete content when it comes to franchises like Star Wars and MCU, and the independent wikis have their own drama. I know of some users who left the Fandom wikis less because of actual issues, but because Fandom dared to implement a pro-LGBT policy that banned deadnaming.

Yep. Mark Kern acts as if he's the creator of WOW when in fact he's just one of many. During the Firefall scandal he's known to going around the office firing employees he personally dislike instead of based on their performance, then randomly demand employees add features he like and disappear for months.

While he's mismanaging his company he spent most of his time talking crap on Twitter, crying about how he's being silenced when people call out his bigotry.

Absolutely. The older games are classic action platformers, and the 16-bit games, especially Super, Bloodlines, and Rondo of Blood are some of the best of their genre.

Also, why is SoTN/Rondo of Blood still exclusive to the PS?

The rumour is that the PS4 version is an emulation of the PSP version, minus the updated version of Rondo of Blood, and thus the licensing prevents them from being ported.

Seems the only non-Sony version of SOTN are on Xbox Live (based on the original with hammy voice acting) and iOS/Android (based on the PSP update, with extra characters unlocked already.

As for Rondo, if you missed out on the Virtual Console version, it's only legally available on the TG16 Mini.

Because nothing can top Starcraft Remastered. SC1 is over a quarter century old and is as popular as ever.

The AOE2 remaster is still better IMO. The biggest problem with the SC1 remaster is that they didn't add much gameplay changes in order to maintain full compatibility with the original CD version.

In trying to find info about the C&C game I read about (was it literally just a dream?), I did find they are making a spiritual successor called Tempest Rising that got favorable reviews during play testing.

Still pisses me off how EA killed the series. First they release Tiberian Twilight, a MOBA-style entry that nobody asked for, then they made Generals 2 free to play. Now all that remains of the series are some Clash of Clans-style mobile games.

Lots of authoritarian states have low crime rates, especially if you implement arbitrary detention and suspend due process.

The genre died due to MOBA games like League of Legends, and the only ones remaining are established ones like Age of Empires and Starcraft.

A shame really. When I grew up in the 90s RTS games were a dime a dozen and almost every developer tried for jump on the bandwagon. Some of my favorites include Company of Heroes, Dark Reign, Dawn of War, Empire Earth, Red Alert 2, Rise of Nations, Supreme Commander, and Total Annihilation.

The Earthsea series

Move to the GBA then DS games, although you can safely skip Circle of the Moon and Harmony of Dissonance. The former is the most difficult out of all of the Metroidvanias and has some really frustrating features like poor jump physics and lack of save points. The latter is closer to SOTN and has similar exploration mechanics, but has some really washed out graphics and poor music, and is rather easy.

The funny thing is in the UK at least, Stellar Blade fell from 2 to 13 in the charts, but Hogwarts Legacy is still in the top 10 charts.

Most of the games have "remastered" versions thanks to the PS4 not being BC with PS3 at all, while the XB1 didn't get BC until years after the launch.

Glad I got most of the old Middle Earth sets from 10 years ago. The Hobbit hole is still my favourite.

I also managed to get one of the sets with the Mouth of Sauron minifigure, which costs a lot on its own. Made my own Sauron minifigure using Reinhardt from Overwatch.

Gamespot is pretty much dead, and IGN is pretty much the default gaming website for casuals now. Just compare the comments on IGN compared to GS.

As for Metacritic, a while back Fandom introduced a pointless redesign that broke much of its search features. You can no longer look up a specific company's ratings for instance.

I used to like Tara Strong but she went off the deep end on Twitter recently.

And many UK game magazines folded after they were caught giving it 10/10 for early access.

Fandom is one of the worst offenders. A decade ago they dominated fan wikis, until they decided to introduce a new layout to replace the old Wikipedia style one, which almost nobody likes. They pushed through anyway because the new layout is more friendly to ads, and lots of editors left for their own independent wikis.

They also screwed with Metacritic, making search harder and you can no longer search for the ratings of specific companies or directors.

The rumour is that Square is running a PSP emulator which has licensing restrictions. So a mobile and PS4 port is fine, but not so on PC and other consoles.

Fallout didn't have the tremendous expectations that Rings of Powers had. There are the Jackson film fans but also Tolkien fans who are notoriously picky about continuity.

Yawn, so you're denying facts now? Arkane and Tango's games didn't sell when they were timed exclusives on PS5, and didn't sell when they were multiplatform on both PS4 and XB1.
