The recent Save My Anime finals showed why the more powerful contestant should always carefully choose their opponent (if they can). Kaguya was noticeably the strongest in the final three and was saved first, only to then get blown out by Frieren in the finals.

I'd choose Edward over Auron any day.

That's not the issue for me. It would be that, in this timeline, Max let Chloe die and refused to use her powers... only to then turn around and use her powers for this girl? As a massive Chloe fanboy, I'd hate to see her diminished like that.

Maria from Maria and Draco for XXVII! We can even get the FF2 Maria as well for maximum fun.

I'd say eight of the eighteen I've seen are below average, but I know most of my anime opinions are hilariously unpopular. Still lots of good stuff on there!

I'll admit, all I know about the series is what I read about the main character in a recent topic on the anime board about rating him. If he's anything like how even his fans described him, the show ain't for me.

My favorite anime, Engaged to the Unidentified, got no votes at all lol

I've seen 18 of the top 25. I'm sure someday I'll watch FMA:B, Clannad, and Gurren Lagann. One Piece, Jojo, and Gintama I'm less sure of but maybe?

I only recently learned of and read a bit about Jobless Reincarnation. Based on everything I've seen, I'm baffled that it exists and is incredibly popular. That's the only one I know I'll never watch.

I had to study the Thomas Hobbes philosophy book Leviathan in university and I've never heard of this other one, so for a second I was really confused!

The inability to seperate fiction from reality is something that may requires therapy in some circumstancea, but instead they wear it like a badge of honor. They think these characters are real people that should have rights.

It's always depressing how personally some people can take fiction. I've definitely reacted poorly to some shock value scenes in anime, especially if I feel like they came out of nowhere or weren't given the care the subjects deserve. It only lowers my opinion of the story, though, and I can usually still see how other people might enjoy it. Maybe I'll think the author is a bad writer or creep depending on the details. I can't get into the mindset where threats are warranted, though. Even for 100% scumbag authors, avoiding their work always felt like more than enough. That's why I'll never watch the Rorouni Kenshin anime.

I can't speak to this CSM controversy obviously since I haven't read it. Hopefully the backlash blows over.

Like, I've been legit bummed out about Jellyfish for the last few days, but I don't have anything against the people making it or the viewers still enjoying it. I always worry my rants here might occasionally resemble the twitter crazies than I'd like, lol

I don't give a fuck about CSM spoilers and I wanted to see if this was more alienating than the vomit kiss but 90% of the comments I'm seeing are just people going omgwtf without actually talking about what happened. Can you clarify something for me?

Honestly my take away is that this is still a solid sub group, you just have to go in knowing they screwed up super bad on this one 45 second chunk, and hope they'll fix it in the batch like one of the translators is saying they will.

Is the issue the love confession and as long as I know about that from spoilers I'm good?

That's interesting! Love triangles are, oddly, one of the few aspects of relationship drama I don't mind. When handled well, it's the definition of good drama. People can't help who they fall for, and they usually care enough about the others not to get too vile. They're put at odds through unavoidable circumstance, not out of selfishness or malice. I'll still wait to see reactions, but learning this is a definite plus.

Outer Wilds is the game I'm saddest I didn't like. On paper, everything about it really appeals to me. In practice, it was just frustrating. I've tried to get into it twice. Both times, after the fifth time I lost my spaceship on the water planet and had to wait ten minutes to die and try again, I wound up quitting.

And now for the thrilling conclusion of my look ahead at Summer 2024 anime.

How to Become Ordinary - a guy who had some bad experiences as an amateur detective tries to be normal, but mysteries keep forcing their way into his life. I wonder how the narrative will justify why he can't just... choose not to solve them? This reminds me of Hyouka, but at least the reluctant guy in that was teamed with a girl who had a mystery fetish. The partner in this anime wants to be normal too. Still, I like mysteries, so I'll check this out. I just hope it has a comedic tone because a guy being stalked by mysteries is hard to take seriously. Hyouka treating everything so dry and serious was also why I didnt like it.

Senpai is an Otokonoko - I'm too lazy to look that word up, but I assume it means crossdresser because this is a romance where a girl falls for a guy who dresses as a girl. And good for them, I say! I'm not going to watch this right away because I usually like to wait and see reactions to romance anime to gauge drama levels. This has the added wrinkle of if they'll handle the crossdressing seriously. I could definitely watch this if it gets good reviews, though.

Atri: My Dear Moments - set in a future where the sea levels have risen, a guy discovers a robot girl in a flooded lab. I laughed when the description said "unexplained sea rise", yeah climate change is a real enigma. Other than that, this one sounds interesting! I'm always down for a sci-fi robot story like this.

Giji Harem - an actress becomes a one-woman harem by acting out various roles for the guy she likes. This sounds like goofy relationship fun, I like it. Has the potential for all the good parts of harem anime with none of the drama. Even if she fabricates some drama between her personas, that sounds cute and hilarious. My only other note is that the description wonders if the guy will ever fall for the actress herself. Well he damn well better because I fell for her after reading a one paragraph description. She's great.

No Longer Allowed in Another World - a typical wish-fulfillment fantasy isekai, only the main dude is a depressed author from 1948 who hates everything about it and just wants to die. Now this is an isekai I can get behind! The potential for comedic parody situations is endless. Really excited for this one.

2.5 Dimensional Seduction - a guy who likes 2D girls starts taking sexy cosplay pics. This sounds like My Dress-Up Darling if someone wanted to focus more on the horny and less on the character development. I'm definitely not sold on this yet, but maybe I'll come back around if it starts getting good reviews.

Days with my Stepsister - a romance between a guy and his new stepsister, ugh. I'm not inherently against the idea, not like they're blood related. I just feel like this setup is always used for maximum drama and is rife with all the worst things in the romance genre. Maybe I'll watch it if reactions prove me wrong, though. I never even watched Domestic Girlfriend but what little I read about its plot might've left me unfairly prejudiced against stepsiblings dating.

Isekai Suicide Squad - hey, an anime for comic book fans. That's great. I'm happy for them. I, however, have only seen two Marvel movies and zero DC movies since the Nolan Batman trilogy. This one probably isn't for me.

Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian - a tsundere girl only shows her soft side in Russian, not realizing the main dude secretly understands her. I mean, I know this is a popular series so I guess I'll check it out. Not super excited about it, though. This setup feels more weird than cute, on both sides.

17 anime with a lot of maybes that could still surprise me, not bad! I'm actually super excited for the top four, too. The last two seasons, though, my top picks were The Demon Prince of Momochi House and Unnamed Memory. Those both wound up being among the worst anime in their season. Really hope I'm not cursing Nokotan.

Huh, I'm an episode or two behind in GBC still so I didn't know that. Guess I'll wait a bit before watching more. Hopefully another group picks it up because I don't want the rushed subs.

I have nothing to compare them to obviously, but I think SobsPlease has been fine. At least it doesn't have stuff like [indecipherable gremlin noises] or whatever, really preferred SobsPlease using actual angrish nonsense there instead.
