If you're such a Kasumi super fan then why haven't you watched the Poppin'Dream movie yet?

I honestly thought all the BanG Dream movies were just those ones where you watch a performance, but I now see that is not the case. Perhaps I should watch it soon!

Of course I have, I'm a Kasumi super-fan! I forget if you linked me to it once or if I found it while looking for that scene to include in my Kasumi writeup when I was doing my anime ranking, but its burned into my memory. I'll have to listen to it again when I get home.

That scene is legit my favorite part of the franchise too, I'm not kidding. That was when I fell in love with Kasumi.

I see he was the Fractale guy too, I knew that "saving anime" stuff sounded familiar.

That reminds me, I should finish Fractale. I only have five episodes left.

on a music anime note i'm still hoping that some day i can coerce anyone else to watch monster sonic and its associated media (not actual monster strike though), or show by rock's many seasons, or wug, or re:stage, so i'm not just the lone token fan of them here

Oh, I forgot to reply to this earlier because it was the bottom of the page. Assuming wug is Wake Up Girls, that's been on my "watch someday" list for years! So don't fret, I'll watch it... someday. I'll look into the other ones you mentioned too.

I honestly thought BanG Dream S1 looked fine too. My theory is that a lot of people couldn't get past parts of the art style, like all the girls having star-shaped pupils.

S2 I feel would be a bit rough at first for people who haven't played the mobile game. They do an admirable job introducing the bands for new viewers, but it's still four whole new bands. Granted, as others have said before, the main story only focuses on a few of them.

Which RAS member do you mean? They're my least favorite band, but worst character in the franchise is still Rui imho.

BanG Dream S2 was the worst one imo. Didn't like what they did with Tae.

Afterglow is cool, though! Poppin Party is my favorite band for the characters but I like Afterglow's music the best by far.

Man, maybe I finally should watch MyGO. I doubt I'll like it more than the earlier BanG Dream seasons just because it sounds more dramatic than I usually prefer, but I've heard nothing but good things otherwise.

No way it has anything that tops the best moment in the series, though! That honor goes to Kasumi singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star for several glorious minutes.

I think that was episode four actually, but yeah it was kind of an odd line. Still, I saw it more as him still feeling guilty about what happened the last time they were alone together and not wanting either of them to risk letting it happen again. Ideally he'd believe in himself and his self-control enough to guarantee nothing would happen regardless, but it's still an improvement compared to episode two. Shows he's still being really careful about boundaries and wary of his feelings, imo.

You're misrepresenting Hananoi there, imo. Part of what I really like about him is that he's realistically flawed and not an abusive caricature who would say something like that (as opposed to the My Little Monster guy who made that exact threat with no room for interpretation). Assuming you're talking about the end of episode two, that was when Hotaru asked him to pretend to kiss her so she could see how she feels about it. For her, hovering her face near someone else's is no big deal... but it's a huge deal for Hananoi to hover his face near hers. I read it more as him trying to get her to acknowledge the depth of his feelings, that he wants to do so much more than just pretend to kiss her. I didn't read it as an actual threat (plus it turns out he had the dreaded anime cold further scrambling his brain). He reacted badly, sure, but so did Hotaru by minimizing his feelings for her. Not sure if you've continued to episode three or not but they both realize they did bad there, apologize, and promise to do better. As for the only loving one person thing, Hananoi later clarifies that he only wants to care about his lover and his family, obviously kids would be included in that.

I suppose Hotaru could more actively conflict with Hananoi, but I think that wouldn't fit her character. The best part of the show for me is that both of them are flawed. Neither one of them knows what love really is. Hotaru is clearly bothered when Hananoi goes too far, and the story shows that, but she can't lecture him about something she doesn't understand herself. They're on a bumpy road coming from two different extremes, and hopefully they'll eventually meet in the healthy middle.

I'm really loving the story, but like I said, it isn't for everyone! You and I especially I don't think have ever agreed about an anime romance. I vastly prefer the problematic exploration of love in A Condition Called Love as opposed to, say, The Dangers in My Heart where the story pretended the main dude had issues for half an episode before going "just kidding those elements will never come up again, he's a perfect cinnamon bun who can do no wrong".

I can only save LotGH and I like it more than Kaguya, plus it would cover duck's trade... but Martin is my trade partner for Kaguya and seems to prefer it surviving here (despite loving LotGH?) so I won't save. Someone else should end the round though

So far, it's a show about a loser losering his way into a not-YouTube "career". Spoilers for episode 3 he ends up "winning" a fight because his opponent injured his hands punching him in the face

All of BanG Dream is worth watching! I actually still haven't seen MyGO, but I doubt anything could be better than the Kasumi-focused first season.

Faster drop was Oblivion Battery - one exclamation of "nipple hair" from one of the MCs was enough for me, and he did it twice.

You got out at a good time. In the latest episode, they turned his nipple hair joke (which he keeps doing) into a big dramatic moment somehow.

How is this, by the way? I've ignored it so far but I was kind of curious after reading the premise.

Installing adblock on my phone and being pointed to another website let me read an actual good version of the Unnamed Memory manga. I'm done the first two volumes so far. It's pretty good! The characters are cool, their relationship is progressing, and there are lots of fun little moments the anime completely ignored.

I could tell just by watching that the anime was skipping stuff, but, yeesh. The second episode alone skipped past three arcs full of character development and worldbuilding. I still haven't caught up to where the second episode ended and I'm two volumes in!

I like having the occasional crappy anime to fill out the lower parts of my ranking, though. Usually finishing them is just a waste of time, it isnt actively painful. There are only a handful of anime I outright regret watching, and Unnamed Memory feels like it would be one of those.

Besides, at least I took another baby step towards dropping things more freely!

I thinking I'm going to drop Unnamed Memory. Reading about episode 4 on the anime subreddit, it sounds like the rushed pacing and cut content is somehow even worse. Pretty much everyone agrees it's a butchered adaptation.

It still feels wrong to drop an anime, especially one that is objectively better than junk like Highspeed Etoile which I plan to stick with. I can usually grit my teeth and power through shows if they're merely bad. Unnamed Memory is something even worse than that. It's depressing to see a good story be told this poorly. I don't want to watch two seasons (I read this will be split cour) of a story I'd probably like getting butchered.
