It has come to light that after california's recent law saying that the minimum wage for all fast food workers would be at least 20 bucks per hour now, that there was a provision excluding restaurants that were mostly bread restaurants...etc.. like panera bread and turned out a big contributor to newsom's campaigns owns almost 40 panera breads in calif. and they would not be subject to the 20 buck an hr minimum wage law. Iirc newsom's camp has not officially denied the allegations. But any of you know if retailers like walmart are subject to this new 20 buck an hr law, or think they should be?

Corvette market falling down finally. You could get a C7 Z51 for under $40k now, there is no reason to get a Nissan Z.
are you a huge corvette fan? but you can't get a new c8 though for the same money as a new Z, i don't believe? iirc the huge performance advantage in the 90s to the rx7 and Z and supra are mostly gone now. The new supra etc....are not great performance bargains. What happened?

The Z looks great but the problem is for the money you can get so much more value from many places.

NISMO being auto only is kind of a joke, since from all the reviews I've watched that has the suspension setup the base model really should have had.
You can't get a base c8 yet for z, money can you?

the one that came out like a few yrs ago as a remake of the popular 90s zx. Nissan must not be very happy with its sales , they are like as rare as ferraris. See a bunch of the remakes of the toyota supra. Wonder why the supra remake would be much more desirable.

seems like taco bell actually might be the most popular place among younger guys esp. wonder why

apps are nothing but a win for fast food companies tbh

they dont have to pay someone to take your order
can serve a higher volume of customers because theyre not being bottlenecked by how fast a customer is verbally ordering and how fast the taker can send it to the kitchen
and can delay or rush it as they see fit through the order tracker
don't a large number of people use the app but do not place their order online. Go up to register and they scan the code on your phone

It depends on what the normal policy is.

If they share all tips, its fine.

However, I did once work somewhere where we kept all our own tips, and once when I had a particularly high earning day, it was suddenly suggested that we should pool our tips. That wasnt going to happen.

Either you go into the shift knowing that you will share tips, or you dont share them.
this was a restaurant? i kinda side with you. Did they want to fire you after you said no?

Seems like the customer is creating a problem here by saying that in the first place.

That said, if you're the customer in this situation and the other workers just mean nothing to you for whatever reason, you could bypass this by dropping it under the table and claiming you saw it fall out of her pocket before you hand it to her.

You'll know what happened and she'll know what happened, but so long as you stick to your story, those other folks can't lay any claim to that money because it was always hers.

Had a guy do this to me when I worked at the grocery store... we weren't supposed to accept tips and I told him this and then he insisted, saying he saw it fall out of my pocket and he just stuck the money in my shirt pocket.
but his tip was like less than 5 bucks right? no big deal

wendys and BK also have pretty good app deals

taco bell has the app exclusive boxes that are a pretty decent deal, but they dont do much (any?) BOGO or price reduction deal stuff

ummm arbys has decent deals on their app.
subway is hit or miss depending on whether your franchise honors corporate deals or not (BOGO footlongs, etc)

dominos has the best pizza deals through the app of the major chains

through wendys app last night, I got a daves double with bacon (i think comparable to a double quarter pounder, but idk), a classic chicken sandwich, a large fry, a 4 PC nugget and a large drink for $8
wonder why fast food really wants to use apps though. Many older people who loved paper coupons must not be happy.

I wasn't there for the every manager fired on the spot incident, just that the store manager who was in charge of the Lowes it happened at was hired as as our store manager after being fired from Lowes. Given his performance at our store, I'd say the Lowes mass firing was probably justified. Last I heard he had left retail management entirely as was working part time as a substitute teacher.

With the current crop of managers at our store, I'd say a mass firing of every member of management who hasn't been with the company for at least five years (meaning predating that district manager) would be entirely justified and probably long overdue. There might be one or two worthwhile people caught up in that but for the most part the best I can say about them is they're a waste of headcount and the majority are actively detrimental to everyone around them.

The manager who died was in his mid 50s but overweight and obviously heavily stressed.
what retail chain is this? your store management stuff sounds extremely bad

Similar. The district manager was knows for exclusively hiring Walmart management failures so it's slowly becoming a Walmart clone. It will take years to reverse the trend if they ever can, since the Walmart dregs tend to scapegoat the preexisting management whenever things go wrong.

Edit: The prior store manager was hired from Lowes where something similar happened. The district manager walked into the store and fired every single manager on the spot. Prior to him was the guy that worked 17 consecutive 12+ hour days during Covid and dropped dead.
isn't that kinda unusual , fired every single manager on the spot? You agreed with it though? That's some story about that what happened to that guy 17 consecutive days , he was kinda old right?

Absolutely. The store manager here is running the place into the ground, and the district manager that hired him was fired on the spot when a company VP visited and saw the state of the store. Unfortunately the store manager was "too new" in the position to get the same treatment. That was 8 months ago and the place is still getting worse.

Target was terrible about everything return related though. I remember my friend telling me they returned their NES and got a new boxed system, even though they only brought in the deck. I didn't believe him at the time but...
Years later I worked at Target and saw the return policy in action and...
Many many years later I read a book that laid out how Nintendo flat out told Target they weren't allowed to let people return systems years after release, and charge it back to Nintendo. Nintendo wanted this done so people couldn't flip a NES for a SNES and leave Nintendo with the bill instead of Target. Target protested and was told they wouldn't get to sell Nintendos anymore. It took arm twisting, but Nintendo finally got Target to see sanity and not be so flippant about returns.

On a funny note, we used to get carts full of go backs (stuff to put. back on the shelf and sell) that all matched, like full bathroom and bedroom sets. And the first thing I'd think was "Well, that wedding had issues"
They had no receipt , how'd they get cash? You still work there?

Heck, we had someone try to return a weed eater, I took one look at it, called the front lanes and said "we don't even have this model." followed by "It's used"
At some point Target realized they were losing tons of money cause they finally changed the policy.

Not quite, but there's a duty manager at my current store who - although he'll later put it down to "I just wanted to get rid of them" or something like that - is notorious for giving difficult customers their way. To the point he once outright ordered a staff member to sell restricted products to someone we knew was buying them for a person we'd refused (we can legally make such a sale if it's tobacco as long as the person who ultimately makes the purchase is of legal age, but not if it's alcohol (unless the substitute buyer is the declined person's parent) or scratchcards (regardless of relationship) - this case was scratchcards).
