Im not familiar with US immigration policy so I really cant say. I assume its controlled to some degree to make sure only the people they deem as beneficial to the US come in? In general I mean. Im sure there are fringe cases. I dont really know enough to say. Something I can say which is related to that is that the Republicans (I assume you know, but thats the right-wing, more anti-immigration political party in the U.S.) rhetoric here is that immigrants commit crime but looking at the actual numbers immigrants actually commit less crime than the general population. As far as I can tell, despite the prevalence of anti-immigration sentiment in the U.S., from every metric Ive seen immigration tends to benefit the country. --- "It's a simple question, Doctor: would you eat the Moon if it were made of ribs?" |

Im sure a lot of people feel like that. I dont support those people. Its not the only reasons though. Im ok with immigration as long as its controlled. I already laid out two points in this topic with sources to official UK government figures why Im against uncontrolled immigration - at least until issues / backlogs with the current system are fixed. Its not just a question of being for or against immigration to me. The problem is like most things these days its turned into supporting your team situation. Youre either painted a massive racist who hates all foreigners or youre a traitor to your country who wants to see the economy crash and lose the identity of whatever it is you call home. Its so hard to have open and honest debates these days. Im not familiar enough with the UK to comment on that part but as far as the U.S. is concerned my understanding is that immigrants have really been nothing but a boon to our economy. Its not at all right, but there are plenty of businesses here that take advantage of immigrants as a source of cheap labor. It might be exaggeration, idk, but Ive heard it said without immigrants parts of our economy would actually collapse. Again, I ask what the difference between an incoming citizen from outside the country is and one who is born here. If anything, people worried about the economy should be more in favor of the former since they tend to contribute to the economy immediately upon arrival, or at least sooner than a newborn can. So much is already about whites being outnumbered by browns, again, Trump and co would rather resort to mass genocide then let Whites lose power. So, partially xenophobia but more specifically racism? That adds up, particularly when you consider the words of guys like Trump, with his preference for immigrants from certain countries over others. It just sucks that they are blinded by that instead of considering things more rationally. Their massive failures of ideas are so self-destructive. America benefits from immigration. i jump in from time to time. i'm a scrub at the game but it's hella fun. Yeah its weirdly less frustrating than most online multiplayer games when youre doing poorly, I havent rage quit once the way I might do in, say, Call of Duty.
