It was always bizarre to me that they actually decided to run this, not only because they're clearly racist fake names, but also, when do the pilots' names ever get reported after a crash like that? I can't think of any instances of it happening.

I guess maybe you could make an argument for the Tenerife disaster, since the KLM captain was their chief flight instructor and they were trying to call him before they realized that he had been involved, but that feels like a pretty extreme edge case.

When I was in the Navy every deployment we went on there was a helicopter crash in our group. Every few months in the Navy Times you would read about a helicopter crash. Ive seen too many stories in the civilian world involving helicopter crashes.

Its most often human error or weather related than actual mechanical failure but I just dont trust them. Its the one piece of machinery I just refuse to be in. The only way Im riding in one is if Im being air lifted from a wreck in a life saving situation to the hospital.

Helicopters hate being in the air, and they hate humans for putting them there

Well, I'll put it a different way. The expression more commonly used today didn't make sense to me because the meaning wasn't explicit; I always took it as "here's your cake, but you can't enjoy it". It's not until seeing the original meaning that I can get the intended meaning for how it's used now.

It certainly doesn't help that "having cake" almost always just means eating it in the first place.
